I never said people like that didn't exist....I said that they weren't very common. How many LT's have we seen over the last 20 years? The two players you mentioned were the exceptions and not the norm. And if you think LT's shady actions weren't well recognized your crazy. Just how many flat out stupid people have you seen giving HOF speeches latley? For the most part you need to be smart, responsible, and hard working to make it in this league. Like I said there are exceptions....but are you willing to hand over 20 million dollars to a player hoping that he becomes that exception?
Thanks for elaborating. I really thought I heard him say, "Ga" dat wood and not "Cha" dat wood. Chopping wood would make sense. However, McFadden's comments came immediately after his coach said, "Anybody who doesn't give this kid the Heisman is crazy" or something to that effect. I figured he was laying claim by referencing the Heisman's traditional wooden base. And while I don't think Brian Leonard or Darren McFadden are unintelligent, (McFadden "quarterbacked" one of the most complicated running formations in college football to near perfection) I will always, always seize my oppurtunity to make sexual innuendos.
Bradshaw wasn't a #1(4th round). LT was a freak and didn't get 30 million guaranteed, it is a different ball game now. No one even wants the #1 pick anymore.
Yeah, but your logic is self fulfilling. How many 3+ year professional athletes don't learn how to address the media?? How many "smart" Nfl players don't make the league...... how many of them do you remember??? Was Ryan Leaf an idiot?? What about Akili Smith, was he a good speaker?? Or because he was a bust, you don't care to remember like most normal people. If a player makes it to the hall of fame he has been in the spot light for 20 plus years, how many celebrities of 40 year olds do you know that can't give a speah. Your logic is loaded and if you seen a lot of this smart guys in college they wouldn't be as polished as you remember them.
OK, blue-font racism whistle-blower: I've had enough of your and others' "you guys are racists!" shennanigans. Charles Barkley Emmitt Smith Ricky Henderson Brilliant athletes. Intelligent men. Spoke like retards. Not because they're black. Not because they're not intelligent. It just so happens that none of them can offer commentary without sounding brain damaged. I really feel it's a credit to our society that we can have an open and honest debate about what is racist and what is not. A constant dialogue is a very healthy thing and a great way to prevent that subversive, unconscious racism from creeping into people's minds. But that's not what this thread is about. This thread is about how funny Darren McFadden sounds when he speaks. Don't worry about ol' D-Mac. He'll be a multi-millionaire soon enough. He'll be a hit on talk shows, radio shows etc. His soundbytes will litter ESPN's airwaves. After he retires, potentially after a hall of fame career, he and some wise-cracking sportswriter will pair up to become America's favorite color commentary team.
...he's a running back. I don't care if he uses the right words when he talks. He's not running for office. You have no idea what a "southern accent" is. The accent has nothing to do with it. In the deep south in states like Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas, black men talk much differently then black men anywhere else. It's just the culture. Things that don't make sense to you...make perfect sense to people that have spent time with or spent time around this culture.
