he had a given out 12 inches in front of him. You take that out and then you throw it to 2nd. Asking Keith and he would tell you the same thing.
I agree with MParty here - everything I've ever heard says that if a first baseman is within a step of the base, he should take the sure out first and then throw to second.
I'd agree in most situations. Not when you're up by a run in the 9th and that's the tying run moving into scoring position.
I guess Delgado shouldn't have gone to 2nd on that bunt either, he should've just taken the out and assume that Wagner can get outs.
that has nothing to do with it. That play was right in front of him, he takes the out at 2nd. However, he had to move a foot to get an out at first. I have never seen someone so close to the bag not step on the bag in any situation.
Final score Marlins 7 Phils 6 (Phils got the bases loaded with two outs, but Rollins flied out to end it). Mets are up 4 on Philly and 7 1/2 on Atlanta, which is a whole lot better than would have been expected on Friday morning.
:breakdance: not quite. But I did feel that after the Phillies series, with the way everything was against us, going into Atlanta where our hopes go to die, facing their best pitchers, that we were going to turn it around and take it to them. I'm just happy it turned out that way.
