I'm calling for a win tonight. I know we blew huge leads last night, but the 1 run lead in the first has little to do with it. I'm just feeling it.
I didn't hear their comments but I'm assuming they are talking about how both teams limped into the playoffs... I don't know how they delivered it but I prefer to think of that point less as homerism and more like perspective. The 2000 Yankees comes to mind also, 8 games up and then they went 3-14 into the playoffs.
My issue is mostly with the timing. If the Mets were actually in the playoffs then I could see it as perspective. When you've lost 5 in a row it just rubs me the wrong way to be talking about stuff like this. Is anyone else really annoyed with the inning by inning updates of the Phillies games either? I mean, enough already.
Again, I didn't hear it so maybe you can clarify what they said. I think it's okay to talk about teams that have had past struggles and then went on to succeed in the second season... I've heard plenty of talk in the media about the 51 Dodgers and this being the biggest choke job in NY history, so what's wrong with a counterpoint? BTW I could deal with fewer updates... fair point.
at least now we won't have to hear anymore about how great pelfrey has pitched tonight. borderline awful outing.
That's all well and good, but whatever bullshit the Mets pulled thus far has still resulted in them being ahead of their closest competitors by 1.5 games. Should the Mets fail to win the division I will point fo possible fuck-ups in the final baker's dozen as opposed to say, some game in April or a Jason Vargas start or something like that.
This is nice to see finally, and I wouldn't mind a Phillies loss. And what is Keith talking about, Wright did the swim move, got his right hand on the bag before the tag, then followed with his left hand and his left leg. He was definitely safe.
He's pretty good, I guess. He'll be a perennial All-Star. He can be the face of the franchise. He is a 30-30 guy. (I know it was a rhetorical question. That's why I answered it!)
