this looks like one of the games during the streak last year. horrible bloop hit that barely falls in, church not making the play on the foul ball and then pagan there.
Checking in from Philly (here for a family seder), happy to be seeing some unhappy Phils fans tonight. Quick summary: hooray for Wright, Perez, Reyes, and Wagner. Boo for the moronic Fox announcers, led by McCarver claiming that Confederate generals like Lee and Jackson were underrated because they spoke with a drawl, and the two of them congratulating the Met relief pitching on their great performance through 8 innings, when at that point they had pitched 2 1/3 innings and given up 2 runs. Some props for some excellent defense by Schneider, by the way.
My favorite was McCarvers analysis of the Mets pen situation. The other guy(Brenaman?) said something like "If Sanchez is back and Heilman gets straightened out the Mets have one of the best bullpens in the National League" and McCarver responds with "If Sanchez is back then I think Heilman does get straightened out" followed by silence. It's times like that when I wish these broadcast guys would call their partners on some of the stupid shit they say or at least ask him to explain himself. On the bright side, we've got Morgan and Miller tomorrow night!
This team is firing on all cylinders. Hopefully its more like 2006 rather then last year when we came out of the gate with a misson then went on autopilot for the rest of the year.
During the Cavs/Wizards game heading into the 4th qtr the cavs were down by a few points. I don't know who the announcers were but the conversation went something like this: Announcer 1: Cleveland led the NBA in 4th Quarter comebacks this season. Announcer 2: Well, they had a lot of comeback victories because they were behind so much. [silence]
Anyone going tonight? I just got the last ticket available, right behind the Phils dugout. I'm pumped, it will be nice to see a sweep.
I think this will be more like 2006, most of these guys seem pissed about what happened last year, Wright in general is off to a great start and has played amazing the last 2 games. Reyes in the last week has seemed to find that 06 groove and having some fun in the process instead of trying to be serious and who would have thought that Oliver Perez would be one of the best pitchers in the NL 4 starts into the season. He hasn't allowed a run in 3 of his starts.
Yeah I thought it was odd myself, I looked online and sec 115 was the only ticket that was coming up as available. I called the ticket office because I really didnt want to spend that much for a ticket and they said it was sold out. I still had the one from online on hold so I took it. I got sec 115, I think it was row 15.
Listening to the Philly sports guys driving home from the game, they aren't worried at all. They predicted DL runs for Delgado and Wagner. I have no idea why they think this. One guy said Delgado won't play over 100 games. Either way....they still think the Phillies are going to run away with the division and the mets team isn't good at all.
