Too funny, the Mets are becoming the Yankees slowly over time. Kind of reminds me of late 80s, early 90s when all the Mets good players started going to the Yankees like Gooden, Cone, Strawberry, etc. Now if only the Mets could get Bellinger the cypher will be complete.
Umm… yeah, kind of not a great look to go from we’re winning a championship within five years of ownership, to talking about budgeting for waiver claims. If this was going to be the messaging for this offseason, he probably should’ve just stayed quiet. lol
Well, it took a little longer than I expected, but of course McNeil is now gone. Stearns really does believe that he is the smartest boy in school.
Jeff Passan Star outfielder Kyle Tucker and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a free agent contract, sources tell ESPN. Kyle Tucker's four-year, $240 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers includes opt-outs after the second and third seasons, sources tell ESPN. An enormous windfall for the best free agent available. And the champs get even better. @ByRobertMurray was on top of the money.
Wow, this team will be lucky to win 80 games this season. $60 million a year for this guy? MLB really is broken at this point.
They're going to rely on their youngsters to come through. Benge, Williams, McLean, Tong, and Sproat. I said it earlier, this is a sub .500 team. The Dodgers aren't f'n around.
They fianlly got someone to sign. Bichette for 3 years 126m. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/47631398/sources-mets-bo-bichette-agree-3-year-126m-contract Do you think they'll try and make Baty or Vientos an outfielder?
He's a very good player (other than in 2024), but is moving two players (including him) into positions they've never played before "putting defense first"? They obviously had to do something, but I do wonder if Baty or Vientos will become trade bait for a starting pitcher.
Mets reportedly acquire OF Luis Robert Jr. from White Sox for INF Luisangel Acuña and RHP Truman Pauley, per multiple reports including MLB's @Feinsand. Welp, this team’s obsession with Luis Robert Jr. will finally be alleviated. I don’t personally get it, but they seem to have wanted him in the worst way.
If he's the player he was from 2021-2023 (.287/.331/.511) with Gold Glove-level defense in CF, this is a steal for the Mets. If he's the player he was in 2024-2025 (.223/.288/.372), this will only hasten Stearns' exit out the door. I guess we'll see. I certainly don't think Devin Williams and Luke Weaver make up for the loss of Diaz, and they still need a top of the rotation starter (at least), so IMO this still isn't an 85-win team.
Just thought I would acknowledge that there could be another Mets cap in Cooperstown. Apparently it hasn't been decided yet, coming down to the Mets or Royals. https://sny.tv/articles/carlos-beltran-mets-hall-of-fame-cap-decision He would be the third Met (Seaver, Piazza) and second Royal (Brett) to have the HoF cap of the team.
According to ESPN, the Mets have acquired Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers from the Brewers in exchange for Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams. Everyone would be very happy if Peralta had another year like 2025. He is a free agent after this year, so it's interesting that they would give up two of their top prospects for him. I wonder if they will try to extend him right away? Myers could be more than a throw-in - his ERA+ over 188 career innings is 132, and he's only 27. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/47687846/sources-mets-acquire-freddy-peralta-deal-brewers
It's always hard to see your top prospects go, but they're they're still prospects and we needed a big-time starter.
Craig Kimbrel just signed a minor league deal. I'm not if he has anything left in his goofy delivery.
