Seems like it. Don't these elite athletes know how to stretch? You never saw Maynard with a hamstring injury out 4 games. How bout Coles? Wes Walker?
That's what happens when you run a soft training camp. Do you know who is playing? Robbie Anderson 28 catches and almost 400 yards.
I said it a million times. this board was wrong about robby and he's proving it. he'll have 1200+ yards this season while we go another year without a 1000 yard WR. robby was also very durable for us and had chemistry with sam and stretched the field. all things we lack at WR right now
I'm being sarcastic, but we really haven't seen what most of the rookies can do. It's still way too early to evaluate this rookie class.
I'm not attacking you or directing this towards you but I'm sick of this "we gotta wait and see" culture with our draft picks. They make rookie of the week/month/year awards for a reason. Plenty of rookies are having impacts right now only 4 games in but every year we say we gotta give our draft class years to develop
This past draft scares me with JD at the helm. Might need to completely clean house with the bounty of picks we have. Also might score a big name like Harbaugh or Riley with a clean slate.
Yes, some rookies make an immediate impact. Most do not make an immediate major impact. Some take time to learn the system, to adjust to the speed of the NFL, and some are just late bloomers. You don't draft a player just for his rookie season. You draft him for his career. Yes, 1st and 2nd round picks should make an immediate impact at most positions, but some positions are more complex than others, and some players are younger than others. Many, if not most, draft picks were seniors and are anywhere from 21 to 24. They are generally more mature and ready to play than those who were sophomores, so not all draft picks are equal. Most years our draft classes were shit and we could have waited for a decade and they never would have developed. This draft class has the potential to be one of the best ever. It's an unusual year. No mini-camps, no OTAs, no preseason, and a lots of players are injured this year, rookies and veterans alike. Mims never missed a game at Baylor, and now has been injured since TC started. Mims, Davis, Zuniga and Clark will only prove to be bad picks if they never develop and contribute in any significant way. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to even be thinking about that.
This is utter nonsense. You can't say that a player or the rest of the draft has not been good when they've been injured and haven't even been able to practice, much less see the field. Davis is the only one who has played, and he hasn't played particularly well. Your statement about Mims is particularly dumb. He didn't play much his freshman season, then didn't miss a game the next 3 years, so saying that he has been injured the past 20 years is totally inaccurate, misleading, and dumb. We don't know what Perine hasn't seen the field much. We do know that Gase loves his veterans and he loves certain players and seems to disdain, misuse, or not use others. It makes no sense to continually trot Gore out there when Perine is healthy. Now if Perine doesn't know the offense or hasn't been practicing well, fine, but we don't know that to be the case. We do know the precedent of how Gase handled players with the Dolphins. Morgan being on the roster is not unusual. For years many, if not most, teams have carried 3 QBs. With the shortage of quality QBs in the NFL, it would be dumb to put him on the PS.
Fans say JD shoulda gone back to the WR well in later rounds, 4,5,6,7 to get additional WR help for Sam. Does anyone know how WRs taken in these rounds are doing through the first 4 weeks? Are any of them playing with the starters? Did we miss someone really good in these later rounds? Just curious.
I get ragging on JD taking a punter (late). But if Branden Mann bags 10 extra yards per punt then that's like 50 extra yards of field position per game. That's more than our running backs get! Then there's the cap cost per yard. If Bell gains 1000 yards this season, then $14,000,000 salary / 1000 yards = $14,000 PER YARD! Yup! Jets pay Bell $14,000 for every yard he gains. (no wonder Gase was pissed!) But if Mann gains an extra 50 yards per game, that's 800 yards over the season at a cost of $600,000 salary / 800 yards = $750 per yard! Way more cost effective! Carry on!
