I hope to god you're right because that looks like a VERY remote possibility now.

I know you will ignore this and keep repeating it because that's what you do, but again, they didn't know where Mathieu would be taken, and what do you know? He was taken before the Jets slot.

Now if you're suggesting they should have traded up, that's another story. But don't keep acting like they passed on him.

Cro totally didn't make the pro bowl or anything last year. What a slouch! He's not Revis! The nerve of that guy. Nah, the truth is, fans just love to hate. They find excuses, listen to the media and soak it up like sponges until it explodes on teh internetz in a fit of rage.

I would absolutely love to know what you've seen that makes you believe this will actually happen.

I'm not giving up on the guy in any way, but this statement at this point is as silly as someone proclaiming Dee to be a bust. Nobody knows with any certainty which way his career is going to go. I would be encouraged if he showed some upside, along with mistakes, the way that Geno has, but I haven't seen one single where he's flashed yet. Perhaps we just see different things in him at this point...

I really hope you're right, because our DBs are bush league as it stands.

While I do agree with you, I also think he has way more potential to be a pro bowler than a bust. The transition from college to the NFL is very difficult for some, especially at the corner position. Guys go from covering average to good wr's to guys like Dez Bryant, Larry Fitz, Wes Welker, AJ Green, etc. It's a HUGE transition and a HUGE difference in talent. It takes time to develop, especially in a Rex Ryan defense with plenty of man to man coverage. I expected these growing pains from him, especially coming off shoulder surgery. Give him a full season and full off-season and let's see where he is. Once he learns how to cover these guys, he could be something special

Is crack cheap where youre at buddy? You dont make a huge jump from one of the worst corners in football to a pro bowler in one season. Its amazing how certain people can even have these ridiculous opinions. The guy has shown NOTHING to make anyone with half a brain think he'll turn into anything other then another Kyle Wilson.

Whilst I agree with 99% of what you've said, for me Dee hasn't shown ANYTHING at all. He's even had problems covering rookie WRs.
I'm guessing that his confidence is shot to pieces, especially if Rex is benching him, its got THAT bad.
I'm certainly not giving up on him and hopefully with OTAs and a full TC we will hopefully see the Dee that we all hope is a good NFL CB.

    Totally agree.

I don't think they'll keep him at that salary for 2014. I think they will view 2014 as a rebuilding year, and 14 million for a CB isn't how you rebuild.

That is how I hope it will play out. None of the teams will pay $14 million for Revis, especially coming off of this year where he didn't have Rex talking him up and Rex's scheme to showcase his talents in man coverage.

I really hope, at some point he decides "Maybe I should just play for the Jets for $10 million a year, and increase my value again by playing in a good defense". Or maybe he just wants to "come home".

I don't think they will. Maybe a team that is one piece away from the superbowl, and that piece is CB will pay him but I'm hoping no one does and he comes back, because he's a hell of a lot better than Cro.

Also, I'd just love to see our defensive line as it stands now with an awesome defensive backfield. I have visions of the 2000 Ravens.

Does anyone really think he'll be back? This bird has flown. We need to get over it.

While you make good points about the Bucs, another team will pay that salary for the chance to get a step closer to a SB - and it won't be us.

He'll probably find another Tampa like sucker out there to hand him another 16 or more million dollars guaranteed...until his next annual holdout

Thankfully, for the Jets, the Me-vis, Schwartz, Feinsod and Uncle Sean ship has sailed

although i havent seen enough to believe dee will be a pro bowler by next year, young players make giant leaps fairly often

at the cb position, patrick peterson was one of the worst corners in the league his rookie year (made the pro bowl as a returner), then he made the pro bowl as a cb in his sophomore season

No doubt, guys can turn things around and make a decent career for themselves after early struggles, but there are just as many guys that were drafted high that can't seem to put it together at the next level.

Again, I have no clue and will give no prognostications on what Dee will become in a few years, but his career is certainly off to a rocky start. I'm pulling for him. Just gotta be patient...

He was very good last season too, but people just love to hate him. I don't know why, but I love that you just put those stats up there. He is one of the best nickel corners in the game. I don't think anyone can dispute that.
