I mean, you could take this even further. Unless you were actually on the Jets team and played in that Super Bowl, YOU have no idea what was occurring at that time. It's just ridiculous.
Only those who lived the experience can talk of the experience sorry to say Historical records are terrific but NEVER/EVER tell the whole story Sure you read up on SB3. You can read up on the Oak PO win but those only gave you a record of the game not of the interaction between NYJ & NYG fans or the feelings at the time so on & so forth. All historical records give U is a overall view of the event not the nitty gritty things that went on prior to the games

In response to your Namath-Sanchez comparison, I want to point out how different the two are from a skillset standpoint. Namath had an absolute rifle for an arm and a VERY fast release. Sanchez is no slouch in the quick release department, but his arm isn't as strong as Namath's and it's not really close. Sanchez, however, is possessed of an athletic ability that Namath (if he ever had) could only dream of at the professional level.
with all the namath hype about SB3, i think i read on here that we actually RAN the ball more than we passed it. if true, that would be another comparison.
Yes it did translate into a post season but Namath had to play every game against a willing defense unlike what happened in the Colts game for Sanchez. We will see on Sunday what he does with this post season..... He looks the most confident I've seen him since week 4. That deer/pout look during the int's mid season is gone. He got his moxy back which is a relief.
Nobody said identical, just that there are some similar elements, which are more pronounced if you watch the "America's Game" documentary.
