No game is ever a lock, but the one game I would bet money on is Dec 13th, Jets vs Tampa Bay. Their QB and RB is questionmarks and they have a new coaching staff too. Plus I think Sanchez will play better in warner games. Tampa Bay even in December is still nice.
Dolphins 2X. Chad crumbles like he did vs Baltimore in the playoffs. Plus we usually beat on the Fish.
The Jets WILL beat the Bills in Toronto for a few reasons. 1. their O-line is horrendous and Rex Ryan knows how to blitz. 2. Revis can cover T.O. 3. It won't be an away game (no advtantage for Buffalo), it wil be a neutral location game no matter how hard the Bills try to sell it the other way.
A number of folks here have predicted the the opening game at Houston against the Texas as a lock (including some "blow out" predictions). I sure as hell hope those 'Tex-Mess' predictions are going to be the case. Having said that: The Texans were the opposite of the Jets last year, starting out 0-4, but they scratched out 8-out-of-12 thereafter. QB: Schaub (played behind Vick in Atlanta; many thought he was a better 'pure' QB). They have a very talented legit #1 WR in Andre Johnson and their young RB Steve Slaton (who teamed with Pat White at West Virginia) is a shifty, talented football player as well. And on "D": Remember when Houston drafted Mario Williams in front of Reggie Bush (and Vince Young) and how they got hammered for that selection? Turns out that Williams has come into his own and big-time at that. Bush thus far is an injury-prone reserve RB and Vince Young (with his funky throwing delivery) has yet to beat out 63-year-old Kelly Collins. But anyway, getting back to the Texan's "D": DeMicco Ryans is a solid LB (and 1st-round draftee LB Brian Cushing might end up being better than Vernon Gholston--imagine that!); their veteran CB (just resigned) Dunta Robinson is good as well. Overall, the Texans are a pretty talented young team...and who may use the "buzz" playing at home on opening day to their advantage. Additionally, Sports Illustrated's new "NFL Preview" isssue, has the Texans winning their division and that guy (Colin Coward) on ESPN radio's "The Herd" made opening day predictions of all the "week #1" matchups today...predictions which included: "Texans over the Jets - in a rout." Who knows, maybe we're underestimating the Texans. I think at the very least this is going to be a war between two teams with a major hard-on in trying to make a statement out of the box; this should be a war. And imho, it will be a tough, a very tough nut to crack. Needless to say, the OL is really going to have to bring the wood in this one. The New York Jets very much could use a really tough road win as a springboard in their homecoming week #2 match-up against the New England Camcorders. ...as for that ESPN guy.....i hope his dog dies. 2009 pick: beating the Fish at Miami (hearing a mix of "J-E-T-S!...JETS!..JETS!...JETS!...and resentful booing in the background....not to mention a lot of post-game whiiiining Dolphin fans on WQAM not to mention those bone-smuggling Fishfans in the NYC area.....and you know who you are...smirk).
The Jets have a tough schedule, as does everyone else, but I think they can pull off a win week 1. At least I hope so...
