    I did. This...

    ...is ambiguous.

Now, since we're basically agreeing with each other here, I'll leave it at that.

If Revis isnt DPOY I dont know what he could possibly do to improve to be it next year. Then again he is a miracle worker.

Woodson is flashy and has big play written over everything he does. There's absolutely something to be said for that. However, Revis has taken on almost literally every top receiver in the NFL and shut them down, 1 on 1. Woodson is not 1 on 1 with the top receiver the entire game, like Revis is.

Revis is the key to the Jets defense, as has been acknowledged, especially by its grand architect Coach Ryan. He's the equivalent of a 12th man on the field, and is really better, because he does what sometimes a double team can't even do. He should be, without any discernible doubt, the defensive player of the year. He's the best defensive player in the NFL this year. Hands down.

Woodson will win it just because he is older and Revis will get a lot more chances in his career. Unfortunately age has a lot to do with voting.

Woodson was once close to the level that Revis is now, best in the league, before Nnamdi developed. His skills have diminished a little, but with experience he learned how to be more opportunistic.

Revis may be the very top pure cover corner in the league, but people look at stats for this shit and with expereince come the flashy stats - numerous pick 6's, sacks, forced fumbles and fumble recoveries.

I don't think Woodson is near as good as Revis is most categories, but stats win awards in football.

This is of course the correct response, but I was hoping for an ignorant response. I guess I should be on another team's boards if I want that.

    quotes from above:

deon has never met a sideline that he hasn't liked

deon could find a sideline in a haystack, in the dark.

deon is the nfl's all time leader in avoiding contact with any other player on the other team

    hahaha those are funny.

one thought on revis: rex has stated emphatically that revis has NEVER blitzed from his corner spot and he is NEVER going to.

that being said, rex will have revis blitz manning from the blind side at least one next week

This........... Ryan's theory is why blitz Revis, when he is the absolute best cover CB in the league. Ryan emphatically stated that Revis can blitz and play the point of attack (run) better than any CB too. However, it would be a waste of his unique abilities.

Like Abyzmul and Badger said, there is absolutely nothing Woodson could do better. The problem is one is used in a way that gives them more opportunities for stats, while the other is used to shut off half the field..........

Woodson will most likely win it but revis faced the tougher receiver's and was constantly 1 on 1. Woodson did shit for about 3 years now all of a sudden he's getting recognition again ? Fuck that revis is younger and deserves it. Who ever plays better and last longer in the playoffs should win it.

My favorite part of Revis' games is without a doubt his mastery of every receiver he faces on the Line Of Scrimmage.

He is all over them for exactly 5 yards, and he reads their body language as they are coping with having his hands jammed through their chest. He reads thei hips perfectly and once they hit 5 yards, Darrelle knows what the route is going to be before the first cut and is able to keep with them step for step.

In the past 2 days, I have heard Mark Schlereth compare Revis to elite offensive linemen because he owns the LOS that much - and I have watched Torry Holt's face go slack with awe as he remarks on how deceptively strong he is, and how DR owned Chad Johnson with one arm at the LOS.

His backpedal, his route adjustment, his ability to take great angles and time his jumps perfectly to the ball... these are all secondary to how good this dude is at the LOS and within 5 yards. I doubt there is a corner playing in the league that owns the LOS like he does.
