If the Jets had a competent kicker, they only would have lost by 12 yesterday! Seems like that was Joe Douglas' philosophy this season. Kicker did not matter enough in the grand scheme of things to him for 2021. Hopefully he cares more about the position in 2022.
That’s not necessarily true , not having a kicker changes a lot of decisions, who knows how it turns out. Remember we left time and timeouts on the field at the end of the half because the kicker situation.
I was surprised when TB cut him--I've had him as my K all year in fantasy. If you're not Tucker or Butker you go thru bad spells which I assume Gay must have gone thru given he was cut. This is why I would not overpay for Gay next season and I argued that Amendola should have been kept. He showed enough to rank him as an average kicker with some potential although in a bad spell. Way fukin short-sighted of NYJ especially when we cut other guys such slack during extended bad play IMO.
Does this guy still have his job today? Or is he heading back to his real estate job selling mid-level houses?
The Mike Nugent saga only goes to point out that it doesn't matter who the Jets trot out there to kick, he will be a disaster, so they may as well save their money.
At least the guy kicked decent in College and even had an OK NFL season for the Bears two years ago. Missed all last year with groin injury. Other guys like Ammendola and Kessman sucked in College too. Unlike the other two, which were obvious busts even before they signed, maybe this one actually has a chance not to be utter disaster.
I don't mind going after the kickers that got cut due to injury. That's how we got Folk and he should have stayed with us for the long haul.
I have a gut feeling Piniero is going to win a game in the last minute and the entire board will go after him with pitch forks due to draft positioning LOL !!
I remember we brought in Koo for tryout before he signed with Atlanta, then he had great year. Should have signed him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Would it be worth spending a late round pick on Jake Moody out of Michigan? Senior and 91.7% on F/G's this season and 100% on PA - plus he will be used to playing in the same type of weather (or worse) that he would get in New York https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4372066/jake-moody Made the CBS All American team too
It wasn't a bad spell for Amendola though, he virtually hooked every kick he has done, which is fine if you set the ball off to the right and still split the posts, knowing you hook the kick and still aiming down the middle is what loses you your job in the NFL.
