Love a good bender brook. I disagree with the sentiments shared and also it’s not December so it’s factually incorrect. But I like the passion
Changed the title and added November too. Let me least be technically correct. So far, the only thing that keeps me not go full ballistic is the “young players on the team” argument. I am mad but at least there is a silver lining.
The reality is teams don’t lose on purpose. Players try to win, they need good tape. Coaches need to try and win to keep the locker room, and besides the worse you are, the hotter your seat- AG’s seat would be much hotter next season if the Jets went 1-16 rather than (say) 5-12. The front office may try and tank- and they already did trading away our best players for picks. So the Jets have tanked as much as an NFL team realistically will.
As one of the folks here not thrilled with either QB prospect this year, I'm glad we're winning as it makes any possible trade up that much more expensive. The team is playing better, Clemons has stopped doing his weekly dumb shit, AD is no longer dropping passes and we finally removed the weak link in Fields. TT played his ass off today in a cold and empty stadium. Played better than Fields by any measuring stick one wants to use.. With TT, we win 5 games and although that takes us out of the top 3, it sets up nicely for '27 especially IF we don't trade up and keep our picks in house.
Remember when the Jets always lost MEANINGFUL games in December? December! Slowly I turned, step by step, inch by inch . . . !
Preach!! I'mma keep saying it. There is NOT, let me repeat that for the cheap seats, NOT a damn QB in the 2026 draft WORTH a top 5 pick. Period!! Zero, Zip, NADA! I can't wait for Ohio State to destroy Indiana so this loony talk can STOP about Mendoza! Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning he is not. THAT type of player is the ONLY player worth throwing the kitchen sink to move up. That's a fact. If there is no QB worth drafting at the top then it doesn't matter if we sit anywhere in the top 10, we'll get a player that will help immediately. Hey, if Mendoza falls then you can use the pick on him. I wouldn't, personally, but, at that point, it costs the Jets nothing more than the pick itself. So be it. This team must learn to win!
I like the win because this team needs to learn how to win and what needs to be done in close games to get a W. Rooting for a loss and tanking for a higher draft pick hasn't worked for us for the last 13 or so years so instead let's figure out how to win.
The Jets won right as the game expired. At 00:00, i still got nervous that there was still enough time on the clock for them to blow it.
I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. Brooks. There are no meaningless games for this young team. Every one counts and gets the team to think like a winner, increasing their confidence and jelling together, not to mention fighting tooth and nail for everything. I also think AG is slowly getting better as a field general with each game. He has the team believing in themselves and one another. He doesn’t make the same mistake twice so that’s good. On the negative side I’m not too enamored with the DC however, something doesn’t seem to click for me. I don’t think him and AG are on the same page.
They say that choosing wrong on a Top Pick for a QB sets a team back 5 years. We blew it bigtime in 2021. We had 4 choices....3 of them were good....we chose Curtain #4 (Zach Wilson) and it was a Zonk, as Monte Hall used to say. 2026 is 5 years since that terrible decision. We will slowly lift....if we find a QB, we'll rise faster.
I want to see the team win some games and not be a laughing stock but to Brooks point it's incredibly frustrating they consistently lose until there's nothing to play for. We've had this discussion almost every year over the last decade and these late seasons wins are meaningless. They never carry over into the next season or amount to anything other then worst draft position
How does it set up nicely though if we do not have a QB? I think Mooge is going to make a move in the draft. Yes, the trade up will be more expensive, but I have a feeling this is the price we will pay for these wins. And I do want to see AD play well, was very happy about that. I like that Fields is not paying, and Taylor does enough to evaluate the roster. It's just that my preference would be to do that and maybe Atlanta not muff the punt, so that on top of that we can draft someone like Dante Moore without giving up the farm or miss him completely.
Oh, don’t worry, we are not giving up the farm because we are not trading up. Moore might not even be here and no way for Mendoza. None.
And what if Moore will declare? We just don't know enough yet. I know you think there is no way we are giving up the farm, but we don't really know. In your scenario though we are not getting a QB at all, which may be even worse. I just don't think trading for someone like Mac Jones, which you brought up before, is the answer. A lot of guys look better with Shanahan than they really are. I don't see any good options I am afraid to solve the QB problem. I agree we should not reach, which is why I was hoping to be in range with our own draft pick, but if not, we may be in for another tough year, where we perhaps improve, but without a QB not good enough. It's been a long time without the play-offs. It will likely continue for a lot longer without a QB. How do we solve this? I thought we try lottery on a young guys who had some success and see if he could be Sam/Baker. It will likely fail, we will probably have a good draft pick, and we get a QB high in the draft. If you are saying no QB in the draft, we are not trading the farm, then what? Get an other stop gap and miss play-offs again without a hope?
Yes Mitchell stopped dropping passes so Metchie had to pick up that critical skill…Metchie looked ass today
Which were the three good? We chose curtain #2 Wilson he was ass, 49ers chose curtain #3 after blowing a wad of draft picks and he was also ass but here's the thing, you wouldn't really know they'd blown a draft and wasted a shit ton of draft capital. Lawrence was curtain #1 and has been very up and down, certainly not the generational talent he was advertised as. Pitts was curtain #4 and he hasn't been as good as projected either. So we drop to Chase WR at #5 big hit, Sewell OT at #7 a big hit and Surtain CB at #9 a hit as well Smith WR at #10 has been good. We should have taken all the picks from the 49ers
the team is a good QB away from being able to compete - though it sucks that the Pats seem to have found their next franchise QB already wheras the Jets haven't had one for decades so even if we do improve we will need to get way better in order to win the division or even get a wild card spot. I used to get really worked up (especially in the Travor Lawrence year) but now I just don't - if we got a high draft pick I have zero faith they won't botch it, if we get a later draft pick I assume they will botch that or waste picks trading up - basically I have no faith in this organisation whatsoever. I assume they will lose when it counts and win when the pressure is off - it feels like the Jets only turn up when it no longer matters (a bit like how in the early part of the season every time it hit garbage time they become unstoppable) - i think the team would benefit from bringing in a sports psychologist to help them with playing with pressure (the England soccer team used to have this reputation of always losing via penalties and the last manager addressed this and changed the whole mindset and suddenly the team started winning them and we went to two finals back to back - lost them both but hey you can't have everything!)
