This is also the most acceptable answer for this year. Both are mediocre at this stage, 1 isn't doing their job better then the other IMO. If the Jets want to blow it up, blow it up now and start over with a fresh new GM / HC.
I voted 1 but if There is going to be a firing, fire them both. I don’t either has done enough to be fired or retained for more than 1 more year.
It has to be #3. Being worried about blowing up the HC/GM should be the last worry of any owner. They have vastly underperformed and not improved the team one bit. In fact they have gotten worse each and every year. The coach is an overwhelmed dummy who cannot deal with veterans. The GM is a buffoon who only knows one side of football. Handed out huge contracts to garbage offensive lineman (Beacham/Winters). No thousand yard rusher, no thousand yard receiver. Took two safeties in the top of the 2017 draft when you had no QB. All he has done is patch up areas with subpar talent. Do not want him being the guy spending the 80 million in cap money this year.
Actually, you picked the dumbest option, because THIS IS NOT HOW THE ORGANIZATION IS STRUCTURED. IT WILL NOT CHANGE UNTIL YOU GET RID OF THE OWNER. NEVER HAS NEVER WILL. I swear, I think me and @FJF have to mentioned this to you guys about 10 million times already. I hope the caps helped. If I have to bring this up one more time, I swear I am going to pull a Samuel L Jackson from Pulp Fiction.
Why would he ever want to sell unless he just gets bored, he sold all the PSLs and in turn is guaranteed the seats get sold every year too. You won't be getting rid of him anytime soon so you better come up with a plan B.
Regrettably, I chose option #3. I do feel it's a bit harsh to dump Bowles after doing better than expectations, but I honestly didn't see a big improvement, just a slight improvement. I kind of want to give him one more year to build this base around the youth, because the young guys do seem to respect him, but if there's a good coach out there that surprisingly becomes available this off season, you almost have to jump on it. Macc has been pretty solid for the most part.
You keep Mac for another year and fire Bowles. You don't give Mac an extension. You do give Mac an input into the selection of the new HC. You stipulate that Mac's performance will be revisited based on three successful exit criteria: 1- A heir apparent QB in the roster either as a starter or under a fast track development plan 2- A robust off season restructure of critical positions thru free agency or draft 3- A continuing purging of high paid non contributors
I waivered between fire both but ultimately it was 3 This team has been absolutely draining on the psych I have 2 Options I have given myself.. Leave forever as a fan after 49 years ...stay but only on a year to year lease Come the offseason I will make my decision Boozer Champ69 Evajoe Jets69 ..I bet they might be tempted as well to call it quits.. who wants to see with a Team with a lousy owner chase its tail.??????? .not me anymore
Fire him..only a fool would give him another 100M to waste after what he did with the Wilkerson and Revis contracts (and I don't care if Johnson did want Revis back, the contract was terrible). The giants actually interviewed a real GM today, how refreshing.
I'd be fine with keep both or getting rid of both. To be fair, Bowles had Fitzpatrick and McCown as his starting qb's last three years. How would he do if he had a real qb? He hasnt gotten a fair shake.
If there are those who believe the Johnson's would allow Maccagnan to hire a new coach, then surely the Johnson's would allow a new GM to hire a coach. Bottom line, if the way the Jets are structured isn't working, I believe we'll see wholesale changes. May have to wait one more year for them.
Choice 3 is what I voted for, but choice 1 is what will happen. Chris is not going to fire Toilet after winning 5 more games than he thought Toilet would. It sucks but that's what is going to happen.
This restructure will never happen unless the Johnsons sell the team, even so its a stretch after that. Waiting 1 more year man for nothing ... There is nothing wrong with the structure, the only time it bit the Jets in the ass was Idzik / Rex.
If Bowles is back then I'm out for the year and being a UKer with no intrest in college football.........who knows if I'll even check back in.
