This was pretty much what I was thinking too. If that is the case he was never likely to take another deal with the Jets. Can't say I blame him really.

Yep, I despised that sarcastic fuck Semeni for that.

I was always rooting for Ellis to succeed and he came a long way.
Something had to give. Jints got a good player, I wish him well.

He was probably looking to start u have to take that into consideration. 1 year is smart on his part, now we need to draft a replacement

I never heard Rex say one good thing about Ellis----and
rex would praise the janitor. Best janitor in the NFL!

I notice that the Bills and especially Rex didn't try to get him. Maybe they know something about him that we don't.

Either way, keeping Snacks now has become more important.

Sucks that we lost him. I guess he was looking for an opportunity to start. Now it's TJ Barnes turn to step up.

And who would you start at NT? We don't have depth at that position anymore, with Ellis gone.

I saw he sent out a real classy tweet thanking the Jets for giving him an opportunity and he wished the team well. Seems like a guy that isn't hard to root for regardless of where he plays.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a shit at all? He was a backup at the very best and not a good one most Sundays. I'm not gonna lose a wink of sleep over it.

Those are some paltry numbers, the guy isn't horrible and he seemed to have more of a pass rush than Snacks. I'm going to run with the speculation that it came down to a chance to start and increase his value for the next offseason.

No big deal. Wasn't a starter, had some back issues and we have TJ Barnes. How many nose tackles do you people want?

He got there; Harrison just got there first.

    Giants use 2 DT's.

He's got a better chance of playing there. It makes sense. I doubt we lose much with TJ Barnes filling in.

I was kind of hoping we'd get someone to bite on the Harrison tender, offer up a 2nd and resign Ellis as the gap between Snacks and Ellis was not that wide IMO especially when they are sandwiched between Mo and Sheldon.

Ellis never reached his potential but he was a solid rotational player. The money doesn't seem like it was an issue as $1.66mm if incentives are hit isn't breaking the bank. I don't see why they let him go, he was good depth. Mac has made a lot of right moves this off-season so I trust he has something in mind whether through the draft or getting a vet at league minimum so I'll wait to see how they fill this spot but I'm still scratching my head on this one but in the end its just depth, they didn't lose a starter so I'm not too concerned.
