"Ideal arm strength"? That's being nice. Ever since he tore the labrum, he couldn't hit even the easiest of out routes without it the route being jumped and defended. He knew his limitations and became a very efficient short passer, but you can only get away with that for so long before teams stop taking you seriously and stack the box.
Haha, yea I suppose that was being nice. You are exactly right. He did know his limitations, there's something to be said for that.
Such a sad, little man. If you are afraid to debate just move along so you don't get humiliated again. this is a discussion board the last time I checked not the ramblings of a psycho bradway stalker.
Hasty got beat just as many times in coverage as Glenn did. If you wanna say he was tougher & a better tackler I'll buy it. But he never had the coverage skills Glenn did & never had a year as good as Glenn's 98 when he WAS a shut down player.
Glenn was HURT in 1998 missing most of the late season run and into the playoffs and my lasting image of him in 1998 was getting abused by Joey Galloway before he got hurt. The perception of Aaron Glenn does not match the reality. he was a good player, nothing more. Nowhere near as good as Hasty.
Marvin Jones was a beast at FSU unfortunately was allowed to get by for too long on talent alone. It wasn't until Parcells came in and called him out on getting into shape that he eventually came close to hitting his stride. Seeing the monster he was at FSU, imho he could've been a slightly poorer man's version of Harry Carson.
Bart Scott was over paid, not over rated, and he was very good for us his first 2 years here. I'm not so sure we get that 2010 playoff win against the Pats without him.
Some of my own underrated: Bob Crable, Clark Gaines, Johnny Hector, Big Bad John Elliott, George Sauer...
This doesn't come out until tomorrow, so IDK how you have it already, but I can't wait for the polls to be up. I wonder what people will say. I'm hoping penny and rhodes.
it's up on nfl.com http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...ork-jets-alltime-underrated-overrated-players
I definitely agree with all of the underrated and none of the overrated. Some disappointing, yes, but not overrated. It's difficult to overrate players when we've not had much to cheer about for 40 years.
Mark Gastineau, by the way, might qualify as overrated. Seeing as he would pass-rush on every play trying to collect another sack regardless of the situation.
I disagree w/ you about Hasty. That's not to say he wasn't a good hard nosed Jet..but he got beat as many times as any other Jet DB. I'm not sure the perception of Glenn is as warped as you portray. Glenn was a pro bowl level corner. But not a consistently dominant player. There were a handful of receivers who had his number. Galloway(as you mentioned) & Issac Bruce come to mind. He's not in the Jets ring of honor or anything like that. Just a good Jet & likeable guy from what was mostly a dark era. Personally, I think Cromartie is second best after Revis. He's had alot of dominating performances in his own right & his 2012 season has gotta be one of the best for a corner in team history. I'd rank them all time like this 1.Revis 2.Cromartie 3.Sample 4.Jackson 5.Glenn
