Remarkable how clueless Buck and McCarver are. WILLIE HAS GIVEN UP! What is so tough to understand about that? It was obvious in the second inning, and it's been obvious since then.

If you want to rip him for it, go to it, because he deserves it. But to not understand what's going on is just ridiculous.

I continue to be amazed how the pundits keep claiming that the Mets were prohibitive favorites in this series, when they were picked to lose to the Dodgers.

The playoff system in baseball is an absolute joke, just as picking favorites are. You play 162 games and it comes down to a handful in October. There's essentially no advantage whether you're the #1 or #4 seed once the games start. They'll never go back to the much more fair playoff system with 2 divisions and no WC's so I'm not sure if there's a solution.

The Cardinals and their 83 wins have absolutely no business being anywhere near the postseason.

It should be the end for trax and Jose... it's a bad move getting thrown out at second but it did take a perfect play to get him.

Look, there's plenty of valid reasons to bash Willie this postseason without having to resort to ridiculous second guessing. Before this game started no one was calling for Oliver to start over Trachsel.

I was calling for Glavine to start every game and just keep pitching until he gives up a run.

This Florida-Auburn game is pretty good, especially if you are a WVU fan.

I'm stunned they ruled that a fumble.

As someone who enjoyed the Mets' run to game 7 of the 1973 World Series, it's hard for me to get worked up over this. Of course, the difference then was that the Mets had Seaver, Koosman, and Matlack to trot out there.

Anyone who is shocked that the Mets are about to lose games started by John Maine and Steve Trachsel (and could easily lose one tomorrow started by Oliver Perez) is just not thinking very hard. Everyone knew that the Mets had exactly one competent starter this postseason, yet it's so shocking that they could lose? It's just crazy.

At first I thought I was in the wrong thread! That was definitely a bad call - it was obvious that his arm was going forward and the ball was out of his hand from the angle from behind. Maybe the official didn't get to see that angle on the replay?

That's also true, but he had a good enough season to give him the benefit of the doubt. Trachsel, Maine, and Perez have not. When Duque went down the Mets became underdogs in any series, no matter what the so-called experts would have you believe.

I thought that was the correct call.

The Mets are missing that "spark plug" type player off the bench...

It looked like a tuck rule to me. His arm was going forward, and the ball was knocked out at the end. Either way, I thought they would say his arm was moving forward and that it was incomplete.

Anyway, 3:16 to go, UF down 1 with the ball.

And as much as everyone here hates Trachsel, you need to score runs to win, and Suppan is shutting you guys down, and you had one swing all day against Weaver.
