I still can't figure out why the losers who go to Jets games to get trashed and try to get women to flash their boobs don't just go to a strip bar instead. It's cheaper and you're guaranteed to get both of the things you're apparently looking for. The Jets should be taking season tickets from people who misbehave at Jets games. Confiscate 50 tickets a game for a few games in a row and the problem will be solved for good. And they can still sell beer to the people who are left.
From what I've heard, one surefire way to get your tickets confiscated and handed off to the next guy in line is conduct while in the stadium, especially fighting in the stands.
Right. That happens at college football games where no alcohol is served. Those 100,000 plus crowds are figments of our imagination.
Beer is sold at many college football stadiums. Your argument is flawed... And meanwhile, when I started this thread, I wasn't bitching about not being able to get drunk or see tits at Gate D. I was simply annoyed that I couldn't enjoy an alcoholic beverage while watching my favorite sport. There is no reason to jump on me for being a drunk, or bucket me with hooligans who start fights. I am just a fan who enjoys his football with a beer.
Two things wrong with this: First off, you really can't compare college football to pro football. The truth is that college football fans are more die hard than pro football fans. Notre Dame had an awful season this year, yet I can promise you they didn't have trouble selling out every game. Secondly, even at college games there is the same binge drinking tailgating you see at Jets games. Drinking at games is a problem everywhere.
I have a feeling that everyone in this thread who is complaining about the alcohol-intake at Jets games is not a big drinker in their private lives, even when it's like their birthday and they are out at a bar or something. To each his own. Stop trying to impose what you like or dislike on other people. That's how facism started. Have you ever gotten so drunk you did something crazy? Something you would never do sober? That's kind of the point. Life is short - sometimes it's fun to let go. I would love to personally hold a funnel for JoeWillie and BradwaySucks and then hear them slur on about how great the Jets were in 1946. Yeah, I know what you are going to say - "Drunk driving." That's what you keep saying. But that happens everywhere - not just near the Meadowlands. If you are advocating prohibition then I applaud your conviction but it just ain't gonna happen so you need to come to terms with that. In conclusion, some of you seem very confused as to why people get drunk and act stupid at Jets games. You can't wrap your head around it. Well, here's the reason: IT IS FUN. It's probably not your idea of fun but I'm sure that your idea of fun (going camping?) is not fun to the drunken assholes at the Jets games. Having other people's ideas of fun interfere with your peace and quiet is just one of the risks you run when you leave your house and go outside.
I don't think anyone is advocating prohibition. If I want to have a beer with my sandwich (or even a couple of beers), it shouldn't be denied. But somehow, a line has to be drawn to separate irresponsible @ssholes from responsible drinkers. They shouldn't discontinue serving alcohol. What they should do is have more state police presence in the parking lots and exit roads after the game and issue warnings ahead of time that basically state that if you're behind the wheel, you better be able to pass a sobriety test, otherwise your @ss is grass. I'd also step up security within the stadium to identify "fans" that are obviously publicly intoxicated and out of control, whether or not they're involved in a fight or disturbance. Public intoxication is against the law and should be enforced. I'm talking about the fall-down, out-of-their-mind, worthless piles of parrot droppings whose idea of "letting it go" and having "fun" is to put on public exhibitions of what an irritating, boring, inconsiderate loser does to ruin the game for children and families. Yeah, it takes a real "man" to stand up in front of a row of 11 year-olds and block their view while stumbling and obscenity-screaming their way to the mens room for the umpteenth time. Arrest them. Charge them with public intoxication. If they're a season ticket-holder, issue them a warning. If it happens a second time, revoke the tickets.
As I said in other posts, Jet crowds today are tame compared to Shea and the first few years in Jersey. I rarley see fights or sloppy drunks. I heard that there were more arrests at the Giant game Saturday then at any of our games. Why did they ban beer 2 games after Gate "D". That's easy, they new it would be a small crowd and they could make a statement without losing to much money. Its all BS
It's amazing that people drink watching the Jets play anyways. I can't, my stomach is upset hours before the game anyways. I have Tums or Malox handy watching the crap on the field.
Very true, 314. The earlier days were roudy as hell. I know, I was part of the problem back then (he-he). And yeah, for all of you who are going to say, "See? You're saying 'Do as I say, not as I do.'" That's right. I'm saying that. But that was then and this is now. And I'm just as sick and tired of the drunks as I was with inhaling other peoples' cigarette and cigar smoke in my face all day, which used to be "acceptable" then but which is now considered to be the obnoxious, disgusting, health-hazard it is today. But yeah, they ban the beer at a no-show game 2 games after the incident to make a "statement." Makes a lot of sense.
Hahahahahahaaa........! Good one! I'm picturing a bunch of guys dressed in green sitting in the stands resembling Keith Richards!
I go with whiskey, weed and then a cigar on the walk into the stadium. Works like a charm but Sunday nights and Monday mornings I feel llike shit. More than usual.
You are the man, keep the dream alive. I will get plastered and puke in my house, but I will be there in spirit.
