I don't think it ruins the Jets to keep this guy. Look, he clearly made a bone head move and owned up to it. Great, now move on. At what point will everyone be happy, cause it won't be once he's fired. They'll want to know who ordered the code red.
snip: Bill Belichick suspended for NOT a minute for cheating for 7 plus years and injuring the integrity of the entire National Football League - sg3 Correction: BB was disciplined by the NFL for ONE instance of taping defensive signals, not 7 years of taping. I'm not saying he didn't do it for 7 yeasr, but the punishment was for the incident at the Jets game only. Having said that..... I think Alosi's punishment is a bit harsh. He's a cheater, no question about it and has tainted your team, but I think a fine would have been appropriate. Maybe if the Jets had let the Commish handle it wouldn't have been so harsh. After all, Rodge did work for the Jets and to my knowledge he has not let any other team handle an rule/league violation in house. So, imo, he showed preferential treatment to the Jets organization. Broncos and Patriots owners got fined, as well as coaches. Jets Organization got off the hook easy, sadly Alosi is the pawn in all this.
Their offense is basicly Darren McFadden along with solid carries from Michael Bush and FGs from Janikowski
It was bush league, cheap etc. -- but I would hardly call him a cheater. He was on the sideline where he belonged and never crossed over the sideline. The Miami player was in the act of committing a penalty (that was not called) for continuing to run down the sideline without attempting to get back in, when the incident occurred. Classless yes - Cheating no.
No has really taken that part into consideration. Compared to other teams we have been able to stay pretty healthy. Can't dismiss the S&C guy as a replaceable position.
One of the definitions of " cheat " in the dictionary is " to violate rules or regulations ". I'm not trying to be an asshat, but his actions fit the definition. I don't have a huge issue with it. I think it was bush league, as you say. My issue is with the Commish and company who, imo, didn't handle it as they have handled all other league violations by other teams. I'm hard pressed to think of another incident of league violations where the Commish deferred to the team to meter out punishment. To many fans of other teams it * appears * that Goodell has shown preferential treatment to the Jets because of his history and former employment in the Jets organization. That's not a slam against the Jets, it's a slam against Goodell.
Please cite the rule or regulation he violated. Because I do not believe there is one - he might have violated unwritten moral conduct but please correct me if I am wrong. I do not think it states in the NFL rulebook - Personnel on the sideline, standing where they should be shall not interfere with players of the other team who are out of the field of play (which he was). To use your words I am not trying to be an asshat but you brought up the definition of cheating - where the case of your team filming actually did violate written rules and regulations hence cheating.
Everyone says in Person he is a great guy he just made a real bad decision. He deserves another chance....
I think this thread was the last straw. We've reached the limit of dumb threads for the day. He got suspended the rest of the season and fined 25K, which is pretty harsh.
This site will not let me post links due to my post count being to low, but if you google NFL code of conduct, you will find the first site is the : post-gazzette dot com /pg/10111/1052222-66.stm and that is what I am quoting. •Conduct that imposes inherent danger to the safety and well being of another person; and •Conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL players. Them seems to be written rules by the NFL. Pot- Kettle - Black.... hence cheating. Just for the record RIYD, I am a chick, not a boy. While you may not like my kind, I have said nothing derogatory about your precious Jets. I called out Alosi and Goodell. I didn't say BB didn't violate league rules, I clarified the poster who said he was disciplined for 7 years of violations. I even said the punishment was too harsh on Alosi. You might want to check the hem of your dress, your slip is showing.
http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/23206/steve-tasker-on-sal-alosi-knee-so-what I'll take this guys word for it and move on...
Ray Lucas (another gunner) said basically the same thing as Tasker after the game... this sort of thing happens all the time. How many times has someone been stomped or kicked on the opposing sidelines. If the weasel Nolan Carroll, running out of bounds and outside the 6 foot border, had run into a jets coach who was legally standing there, would he be fined? BTW, weasel Carroll was running out of bounds for @ least 15 yards and I didn't see him split any double teams. Alosi got his punishment. We should move on.
Clearly, the only suitable punishment for this guy is to fire Shotty and fine Woodhead 125k. Justice must prevail.
This is exactly what the Jets needed! After every embarrassing moment we had this year we responded with a win so.... This is a win for us!! Thanks Sal!!
