I thought the crowd was good, people worry too much. If you remember the seas of red seats from the mid 1990s you wouldn't be worried about the crowds we've had this year.
That's one way of putting it, but take my word for it. Point is that a lot more than half the crowd was gone within 3 minutes of Leon's second TD.
My first game was 1976. I remember going to the ticket window and my dad got to choose where we were going to sit, for the most part.
Well since the game was over for all practical purposes at the 2 minute warning what is such the big deal?
Honestly, I was at the game yesterday for the first time this year, and it was the most quiet crowd i've heard in a few years (possibly excluding games late last year)....who goes to a damn game and can't even get up on a critical 3rd and 8 when we're on defense....YOU'RE AT A FOOTBALL GAME!!!! It's such BS, who are these "fans"?
Why should anyone get up for the bums on defense anyway? Anytime the crowd stands up and gets loud they allow a big play.
Well, at the 2 minute warning, it was over. But after Leon's TD, there was still 5 minutes left in the game. That's a big deal. If Detroit recovered the onside kick (which everyone knew would eventually be attempted with our defense), they would be starting a game-tying drive.
yea, it's like a snowball effect though....but really, part of the fun of going to a football game live, is getting up, making noise and effecting the opposing offense (slightly)..... if you want to lounge, and sit on your lazy ass, then watch the game from your couch at home IMO, we don't need these "fans" at a live game, come on have some passion for your team
Doesn't that take the piss right out of it? Everyone gets up, they finally stop someone on 3rd down and then they convert 4th and 11. They later did it again, getting a 4th and 4 on their last TD drive. It seemed like in the Herm era we could never get off the field. By the 4th or 5th time the opponent converted 3rd down, people stopped getting up for it.
No I think your time line is not correct the on sides kick came with 2.20 left in the game & last DL TO came at 2.15 left then came LW 1st down then came the 2 minute warning then the drop the knee routinue. Some fans had such confidence of the W that just like going to the dice tables @ AC they gambled they would win & they were ALL right
Yes what really is needed is dominant players on D that in crunch time can come up big. Usually a DE or the MLB is such that guy but sorry to say our DE & MLB are MIA at least up to this point of the season
We're both correct with our timelines, but we're talking about different parts of the game. The onside kick obviously came after the Lions scored their TD to make it a 1 possession game. What I'm saying is that there were 30,000 people left in the stadium even while Detroit was driving for that score. Leon's TD came with 4:51 to go, and the onside kick came at 2:20. In between, most of the fans left. As for the second part of what you said, the same people that bitch about the Jets blowing leads near the end of games are the same ones who leave the game early and don't stick with the team. It's a double standard that I'm sick of hearing and shouldn't be accepted.
The Colts game was the worst I've ever seen, the stadium was literally shaking and time and time again the Jets D failed to make a play. Maybe when they actually make a stop late in the game people will start getting up and cheering again before the play.
MHO is for the departing fans since I to felt the game was over when we took the 2TD lead with about 5.00 on the clock
wrong game to complain about Vilma IMO.... we have no pure pass rusher that isn't named kerry rhodes at this point, so IMO we need our coaches to create better blitz packages in order to give our sub-par pass rush a boost
Why, because he caught a tipped pass on a great play by Barton? Vilma once again looked very very average but Barton did make several very nice plays.
