I think our defense has given us enough pause to know that no lead is safe with them.

And I think that any person who has watched the Jets play this year, or any person who likes competetive football knows that the game was not going to be over at that time since the Jets have a tendency to make the game close again.

my point is Vilma is not a problem, and he had an above-average game....Vilma is still adjusting to our new defense, he is not God....when we finally get a real NT, and Vilma is 1 year+ into the new system and struggling, then we should start to worry

my real concern is Mangini and Sutton not using more creative blitz packages when it is obvious, we have no pure pass rusher off the edge, or any pure pass rusher at all for the matter

I cannot understand why people think like cheering on the D they will make the play. I will say since the 70s it is 10% for helping & 90% against. To me it is a most senseless arugment. This is America & once you pay your money you are entitled to do whatever you want to do even it is leaving games early.

In certain situations it can help, but with a defense as bad as the Jets have you're correct that cheering can't go out on the field and defend a pass. When the Jets are back in that zone with their ineffectual pass rush unless the offense makes a mistake it's almost a given that they're going to convert.

Have you seen what has been going on in Seattle the last 2 years, or how the loud crowds contributed to Jevon Kearses early career when he got all those sacks? A loud crowd can absolutely hinder an opposing offense. I clap and yell AHHHHHHHHHHHH! on EVERY third down. If everyone did it it would help the Jets. With half the people doing it the opposing offensive players can still hear the snap count so it does nothing. You need everyone, like Seattle does it.

Yes you do but why would you or anyone care if somebody decides to depart the game. Who knows maybe they were all MDs & all got a emergency call at the same time

Thing is, the people who left the game shouldn't feel the "I told you so" attitude which you are referring to. They left and the Jets barely held on to win the game. Instead, they should be saying, "I wish I stuck around to the end to see the finish" of that close game. Whatever the motivations of those people are, it's not the right one.

i'm more concerned with people just sittin on their ass on 3rd downs....it's called homefield advantage for a reason....like the above poster said, if the whole stadium did what i do, then maybe it would hinder the opposing team in some way duringt eh course of the game, it also pumps up our d if the stadium is rocking......i just can't understand how peole shell out 50 bucks or more per ticket just to sit there, make no noise, and leave at halftime.....

Since it appeared more left then stayed using your 50,000 number that departed would mean they are in the majority & you HO is the minority

Yep. That's unfortunate. Doesn't make them right though.

H'mm I can not tell U how many home games I have gone to since I started in 65 until I gave it up in the mid 90s. In watching out own games + many others I do not subscribe to your theroy but if you want to believe what you posted so be it.

so you're denying the fact that crazy, loud crowds create some sort of homefield avantage?

I'd rather fall into the category of "sticking around to see my team win," than the "looks like the Jets will barely hang onto this, so I might as well beat the traffic" group.

Man, I can not believe that leaving a game when for all intents and purposes the game is over is such a problem. Like a few on this board, I have been to almost every game since '81. I have been there for every Kotite Game, In the Rain, freezing cold, and games where there are no more than 15,000 people in the stands. In reality my life revolves around the Jets, Family outings are planned depending on the schedule. Away road games are treated the same way as home games..Tailgates in the backyard etc. I am at Home games at least 5 hours before Kickoff. If once every ten years I miss an "Alcoa Fantastic Finish" so be it, I have earned the right to do so.
