I read about this elsewhere the first thing this morning. Now he'll turn into the next George Blanda.

Most of them pad that stat with meaningless extra points.

  3. Possibly the best college kicking prospect of all time....he never really made the transition to the pro's. I expect him to float around the league as an average kicker for the rest of his career

Not as long as he gets non-contact deep thigh bruises. Blanda was practically an Iron man compared to Nugent.

    Bo-Flex maybe???

If that frees up 86 cents worth of cap space?it?s worth it to let him go.

Feely did a good job, hopefully he continues to be solid if he stays. I always hoped Nugent would turn into a dominant kicker but I don't understand how you prepare all year then and hurt the one muscle you need on your first kick of the regular season.

Reminds me of the old Bill Parcells sideline sound clip--"I don't need him to play, Doc, he just kicks."

I literally just said that to my dad. I said, "Don't let me ever buy a Jets jersey ever again. My Curtis Martin is the only safe one". (I own a Nugent, Ty Law #24, McCairens, and a J.Vilma, yes with the J. in the front).

I also have a Nugent signed ball that he signed for me a few years ago at Training Camp. So much for that anymore.

With that said, it's been real Nuge'. I think we are just fine with Feely.

We could (and probably would) have drafted Heath Miller with that first round pick. He's a two-way tightend and the best player of all the players in that trade including Rhodes. although not by much.

The only thing we should've offered Nuge to stay is human shit in a bag. Anything more than that and we would've overpaid for him.

    Good riddance.

Man, now it's really sinking in how much Bradway set this franchise back. Think about the wasted opportunity. We could have been perennial contenders if he played his cards right.

BradwaySux, wanna map out where we are and where we could've been if not for Bradway's idiocy?

Didn't we get him with the trade for Jolley. Man that was an awful year.

it's hard to feel one way or another about a kicker leaving... unless his name is Doug Brien

Why anyone would take a kicker before the 5th or 6th round is beyond me... at least Miller returned a few kicks or that round would have been a complete bust.

i never really bought into nuggent. he was great at ohio state but it never carried over. how many times did he miss a field goal or extra point that in the long run cost or almost cost us the game. so i am indifferent if he signed or not. i think jay feely will do fine untill we bring in someone else.

this will comeback and bite us if we don't keep Mike. Feely doesn't have near the leg Mike does.
