That's because Shottenfucker has no choice but to open it up. Ironically, the Houston game was the only game played where Sanchez looked like he was allowed to be himself the whole game. I love to run the ball but realistically, with a Rookie QB, 8-9-10 in the box and teams knowing what we are going to do and stopping therun sometimes you gotta open the damn thing up! Does that mean Run n Shoot 2k9? NO But sometimes Passing to establish the run should be considered a viable option ESPECIALLY w/ so many weapons.
Thrives in a good challenge? The buffalo game was deadlocked. He turned the ball over and over. The biggest problem about Mark is that he is emotionally too high and low. Rex Ryan is an enabler with that respect, they both will learn in time, it's better to stay at a happy medium.
I think you misunderstood my post, and I probably didn't put it the right way. I wasn't calling for the immediate firing of Schotty. I said "barring a significant improvement down the stretch", or in other words unless we show improvement the rest of the season, then we should look at replacing him in the off season IF the coaching staff was contemplating a change even further down the line. No point in delaying for 2 years what you should only delay for one. Of course this is moot if things start looking even better the rest of this season.
I noticed that too. He seems much smoother and more decisive, for some reason, when he is taking the snap directly. Did he use the gun at USC? - I don't remember
Look, Sanchez is a solid QB and that is that. In addition to being a good passer, I like his attitude and he seems to get the NFL game. So he's having a few bumps in the road... Welcome to the NFL, rookie. You guys are set at QB for a long time, I don't even get why people still question this kid. Don't get me started on that stupid hot dog s**t either. I don't look forward to facing him twice a season for years to come.
Yeah, also in his lows he loses all confidence. You could see him regain that confidence during the second half on Sunday. There was one play, I think it was a screen, that kind of keyed everything. It was not a good pass, he threw it falling away from the pass (a problem he has had the past few weeks, and it is not a good thing to do) but it was complete for a big gain. After that, you could see his confidence growing and he had a very good half. It helped that Keller, B-Easy and J-Co played lights out and made ridiculous catches, but you could see the body language and he was taking risks he refused to try the past few weeks. That's why I thought the game was called pretty well, especially the first half. Establish the run and give Sanchez easy stuff to gain confidence. This is something that virtually every QB in the league needs to be successful, outside of Jay Cutler and Ben Roethlisberger who generally don't get easy throws and are expected to throw down the field no matter what. Every other QB in this league, even Brady and Manning, get some designed easy throws to help with their timing and rhythm. Schott doesn't do this enough, but did Sunday. Of course, Schott then moved away from it and screwed it up towards the end anyway. It's not a good idea to constantly use an empty set shotgun in big situations, having the threat of the run and also having the RB in to chip block is invaluable and most teams will have a back in and will limit shotgun attempts. Or, there are some teams that run delayed draws out of shotgun, if they use the shotgun a lot, to keep defenses honest. I forget which teams, I don't think anyone really runs it much these days though, as most teams either have better pass blocking lines, experienced QBs, or just won't use shotgun too much anyway. If Sanchez can play well the rest of the way out this loss is meaningless in the long run. I mean sure it sucks to lose, but developing the QB is more important for long term success. He looked pretty good, and this is about the point that a rookie QB starts seeing things at NFL speed and starts being competitive. If you check the stats for some of the other QBs that developed, their first 6 games or so are pretty much learning on the job and they are kind of a liability, and then after that they generally can start helping the team win games. We might see a lot of 200+ yard games going forward if Sanchez just "got" it.
im not that fond of schotty but firing him will hurt sanchez ultimately but at the same time this is schottys 2nd year in a row with a new qb maybe needs a season to learn how to utilize his offense better. He has good plays he just calls them at the wrong times.
not that impressed with sanchez tbh I mean he gift wrapped another 99 yard intercept for a TD that their rookie smith dropped...
