Winters and Aboushi can become our starting guards next year, with Colon and Peterman holding the fort this year and giving them time do develop. I think Aboushi can also fill in at RT if needed. Schaluderaff is our back-up C as of now, and I read somewhere they're also trying Campbell there. We also picked up the Clemson C as a UDFA and he started a lot of games at the position. He's supoosed to be a good fit for zone blocking teams. This season we'll probably carry 8 OL (considering Colon's injury history): - Feguson, Howard - Colon, Peterman - Mangold T/G - Aboushi T/G - Winters C - Schlauderaff/Campbell (6 rd pick)/Freeman (Clemson UDFA)
I think if the FO had even the slightest bit of confidence in Vlad they wouldn't have brought in all those guards. Keep in mind last year we were running a "keep it simple and rely on power" scheme with Sparano. This year we're going back to zone blocking. Ducasse will be kept to compete in TC but imo he will ultimately lose as, football-wise, he's an idiot. Good thing is if he sticks around it'll be because competition will have finally made him serviceable (or because either Colon or Peterman breaks down).
Wouldn't surprise me if Vlad is cut. Financially, Jets don't owe him much. Also, Idzik isn't under any pressure to justify early round selection from a previous GM. He showed some progress last season but under a totally different blocking scheme. Jets are going back to zone blocking & my expectations out of him are pretty low.
I know , We dont know if Holmes is gonna return to form. If he goes down again its gonna be another long year on offense. I heard whispers about Braylon coming back we better hope he does. Idzik said in an interview that he likes Braylon and what not
