I also don't want to shift the purpose of this thread because it is in the wrong forum but we've been asking for pass rushers for 2 seasons now.

I mean it's ridiculous at this point to not address this need.

I think Vlad is going to be a Beast in the NFL. He just isn't ready yet. Give him some time.

2 years? More like 4; it's been a need since Johnny Abe was traded away. To be fair Tanny thought he addressed the need with Pace, The Ghost and Taylor respectively.

I don't see the Ducasse pick as a head scratcher at all. With the preemptive cutting of Faneca, a spot was going to be open on the OL and with Woody getting up their in age, the possibility of another spot opening this upcoming offseason is high. Knowing this an O-lineman was needed.

With Vlad they got a guy who if he could have put it all together in his first year and beat out a guy that had been with Callahan for the past 5-6 years including college, becomes a strong young replacement at guard between Brick and Mangold.

But if he couldn't put it all together (the actual result) they have a young guy with all the physical tools in the world and a year of experience in the system ready to take a shot at winning the starting job at RT or guard (if need be) again next year.

The head scratcher was Wilson really. What was it that every other team knew that we didn't? Lots of teams had a real need at CB, and most outside experts had Wilson as the 2nd best CB around and a possible top 10 talent. Instead, he went 29th, behind both Kareem Jackson and Devin McCourty?

I would have made the same pick as the Jets there - he seemed like a steal. But I've gotta wonder how everyone else seemed to know the guy would be a project at best, and maybe a bust?

Right...and all this says is "future" for me. I can deal with the 2010 picks.

My only point was for 2011, I want impact guys.

I don't need pro-bowlers, or rookies of the year, I just want guys who's learning curve is slight and then they can contribute the back stretch of the 2011 season (Yes, I believe there will be football).

What the hell was going through his mind then? Gholston is one of those old draft busts... Pace isn't a pure pass-rasher, and Taylor is too old! Age is a big factor in any sport really, especially in football.

Taking a shot in the dark here, because college football prospects is not my thing but:

Boise State's strength of schedule is always scrutinized. Wilson didn't see the caliber talent facing WRs from the SEC, like Haden or Jackson. Though McCourty in the Big East probably saw the same talent as Wilson.

I think you're being harsh calling him a project/bust. Corners (unlike, for example, OGs and RBs) take a while to figure things out.

I think the issue with Wilson was his makeup; he was apparently lazy, cocky, he took plays offs, alienated teammates, shit like that. The Jets think (right or wrong) that Rex is a good enough motivator to overcome that.

I believe they drafted before signing Taylor. Taylor was a desperation move to fill a need.

    Wilson, really?

I don't know much, again, about prospects, but never heard the stuff you just wrote.

Everything ManlyGenius just said about Kyle Wilson is false.

We've been spoiled in the draft with players panning out immediately.

Let's give the traditionally allotted time to these players. Its not like there is one position they play that is desperately needing a rookie to become a pure playmaker.

Don't say slot CB. No one will do well there. Give me Donald Strickland back.

    AYFKM?

If that was the case Wilson would never have been here.

Now I hope Vince comes along and tears that post a new one.
