He was part of a two QB system his sophomore and junior years and was terrible in his senior year as the full time starter outside of a game in South Bend against the Irish. Siemian was not on anyone's radar to be drafted. It took a guy who really knew QBs to see his potential (Elway).
Another guy who looked really bad his last year but his work in the film room and with the exes and O's overcame that is Jameis Winston.
Yeah that's it. The Broncos are an interesting team to follow. Look at their QB situation the last few years. And they have a great defense. That helps...and they have Paxton in the wings.
I think that would be considered blasphemous. I almost added red and green M&M's, but that's for the next batch closer to Christmas.
That 50 year number got you in just under the door..if you had said 51 we would have had to discuss it further.
You're not allowed to say this here, apparently. We're not allowed to criticize picks, since we don't know as much as the GM> But I agree. He's not good , period. What does it say about Hackenberg that the coaching staff is afraid to even make this guy a backup Quarterback ahead of an injured Ryan Fitzpatrick or Bryce Petty who had an injured shoulder just a few weeks ago?
I don't know if Trevor Siemien can be quantified as "light years ahead" of either Kenny O'Brien or Chad Pennington. They may not have been HOFers, but both were pretty solid NFL QBs -- I don't even think you can even remotely start to consider he is better at this point than either of them. Let's see him play 5 years first, I don't even think he will be starting in 2 years.
Trevor Siemian is one of the most bizarre cases of quarterbacks in the league even ending up as a backup let alone a starter on a 7-4 team that has a good shot to make the playoffs. He topped out at 11 passing touchdowns his junior year with 27 TDs/24 INTs in his career on 58.9% passing. Looking at his college stats, he's lucky he even got a camp invite... http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/trevor-siemian-1.html
And of course, there's no chance that we might actually employ one of those people who knows QBs? Sigh...
Good post. Me, my dad, and a few brothers have been PSU fans for decades. Dad had season tix for almost 20 years, youngest brother graduated from PSU. The Sandusky debacle was devastating to my dad. He never got over it and rarely watched college football afterward. He didn't even talk about it anymore. And yes, even though they're rebounding, it still stings. So, thanks for your sense of perspective. PS: I loved Greg Buttle
