You realize winning 13+ games is very difficult? If we sign Manning I am afraid all our cap space goes to him. That means we have to hit on all our draft picks to get starters as rookies. Add on we need Peyton to be old Peyton pre injury and he would have to play 8 games outside a dome and in cold weather which he rarely does. Unless Peyton is 100 % healthy, cannot reaggravate or reinjure his neck, and can still play like 2-3 years ago I don't want any part of him.

The thing you seem to forget is that the NFL is a capped league. We only have a certain amount of money to spend. Period. It would be practically impossible to sign him because we have maybe 15 million to sign all of our own players back and whatever FA we include. Signing someone like Peyton would cost easily 15 million a year. So say we give him a 4 year deal (which is what he’ll probably be looking for), so we either give him a good amount this year and backload the contract somewhat, or we sign our own guys first and then sign Peyton which we would have to backload the contract. Thus screwing this organization for the next 5-7 years (we are currently seeing the results of backloaded contracts with Pace and Scott). So we dont upgrade any positions besides the QB position and have to hit on at least 3 draft picks to have a chance at touching the playoffs.

So we could upgrade one position, or actually build a team this offseason. Instead of mortgaging our future on a 36 year old coming off his 3rd major surgery (to his fucking neck) and hasnt played in a year coming into a brand new system (get the point), we can actually build a franchise like how its supposed to be done- get young players that are entering their prime and build around what you have that has gotten you pretty damn far. This team has to go out and get a safety, WR, RT and is in dire need of depth. Without these things through FA, we are easily sitting in a similar situation as this year.

It would be impossible for any competing team to sign him and the Jets start off about 9 million under the cap...obviously it wouldn't be money that motivates him if he changes teams instead of retiring.

I still highly doubt, with whatever money we have left over to truly rebuild this team, that he would take it. Because it's going to be a very minimal amount.

After this offseason, I doubt Manning would want to join up. He would need some real assurances that the backstabbing and lockerroom atmosphere would be totally cleaned up.

Also, Manning is not a big chest thumping guy and might be turned off by that stuff. He's never been around it in his NFL career.

This is funny considering Mannings the one who always threw his teamates under the bus when they lost. Manning would fit right in to our Locker room.

Schefter thinks he could end up in Washington...how the fuck he could think that is totally beyond comprehension unless none of us understand what Manning may think.

According to Francessa, Snyder publicly stated if Manning became available, he'd basically hand him a blank check.

It depends, if the Redskins take RG3 theirs no chance of Manning. Right now the Skins are in line for RG3, unless someone trades in front of em.

what an embarrassing display of a lack of football knowledge, sports knowledge and common sense.

one, the entire "last year" argument holds no merit because it ignores the widely proven fact that great coaching makes teams better. holy fucking shit, how could you even utter such a dumb statement, nevertheless twice. by your logic, no team would ever get better from year to year or with coaching changes.

two, it ignores the fact that the 49ers played 5 playoff teams beating 4 of them. they didn't play anybody? they played the same amount of games against playoff teams as the Raven and Saints. Baltimore played 5 games against 3 different playoff teams (and two of those were the Bengals who you have dismissed) and won all 5. what, is your contention you have to go undefeated against playoff teams to be a good team? just f'ing stupid. The Saints went 5 for 5 as well. but compare that to the Patriots, who only played 3 playoff teams and lost to 2 of them. only the Steelers played more games against playoff teams, and they only went 2-4.

and the heaping pile of trash nonsense shows you have no idea what you are even watching when you watch the 49ers. they have the best rushing defense in the league, one of the best rushing games, and have outstanding receivers. there is nothing trash about them.

fact is, the teams you probably want to claim are great don't play anymore quality teams than the 49ers did this season. please tell us who the best teams in the league are and why their schedules were so much more difficult. sometimes good teams just have easy schedules.

even losing to the Saints wouldn't invalidate how good they are because not being the best team in the league in no way equates to being trash.

    just stupid.

I really want Manning in here now. Sick of watching the Patriots running away with the division. Peyton could definately prevent this.

Jesus Christ... these are highlights of the peak of his career. We cant expect that on this team....

He is a 36 year old QB who is injured and has been regressing as of late. Dont get me wrong I wouldnt hate if he was on this team, but If he gets hurt and we get rid of Sanchez have fun watching this team go 5-11.

I think its too much of a risk.

An old Manning is 10x better than Sanchez. It's worth the risk

Yeah, and the second he gets hit badly because our RT is as good as a garbage pail and he re-injures his neck this franchise screws itself over for the next few years.

Like I said to soxxx, I wouldnt mind having him for a SB run but if we dont get there and we get rid of Sanchez we WILL regret it. I promise you that.

Its a tough choice. Just remember we are hosting the Super Bowl in 2 years, and I really think thats going to influence the front office's decision.

Ill be happy with either route, I dont want guys like Matt Flynn or anyone else as QB.

We have to stick with Sanchez, thats just the way it is. This kid can win and Superbowl, I guarantee you that. If we get Peyton and he cant win it all we are set back as a team for awhile.

There arent even good QBs coming out in the next few years.

Barkley, Jones, Bray, Murry, and Wilson are QBs who are coming out in the next two years, non of them (baring a QB coming out of nowhere or some HUGE season) are franchise types what so ever. We would send ourselves back into mediocrity.

Yeah because im sure he will be cleared to even play if he cant take a hit. How exactly will this franchise regret it? Sanchez isnt exactly tearing it up out there with his bottom of the league numbers 3 years straight. Get off Sanchez's nuts.

Im torn man, I really want Sanchez to get another shot with a new OC but Peyton Manning is Peyton Manning. Manning will probably come back next season more determined than ever. He is dying to play football.

Barkley is projected to be a very good QB. He would be taken in the top 3 of this years draft if he went out. New QBs pop up on the radar every year. Most people probably never even heard much of Robert Griffin until this year.
