why do you say that? We beat the Patriots who are going to the playoffs and played a 10-0 game against the best team in the NFC and lost by 4 to the best team in the AFC... i know the playoffs are different but we would have a shot
No where did I say I was rooting against the Jets. All I said was that I don't care if were in a playoff push or not, I want Clemens to start.
Apparently the toilet water isn't the only thing that goes the wrong way down there... we need to go 10-6 to even think about playoffs. It is possible but unlikely.
As I said in my post, the Jets had better do well on offense this week, since no excuses are really possible. But your original post wasn't about what will happen this Sunday, but rather what has happened recently, and I think the numbers show pretty clearly that the Jets haven't been all that great on either rushing offense or defense in recent weeks, despite what you claimed (better than before, sure, but that's because they were execrable at the beginning of the season at both). BTW, the pass rush has been better in the past few games, but that's because of all of the blitz packages. I think that they're a great idea, but they do have the result of leaving cornerbacks in single coverage, potentially turning 5 yard plays into 50 yard TDs (see Coleman, Drew).
good thread thank you for taking time in to make the analysis. I was wandering myself what the Chiefs win meant. Hopefull Jets could win everygame. We'll just have to wait and see. We also need to take into account injuries that all of these teams will have to face. I think Denver is a sinking ship since they have a qb problem. Cutler will need to come to their rescue.
Well, too bad cause Pennington is playin. If we drop 2 under .500 then maybe give Clemens a shot, but otherwise I want a playoff game
I'm sure Denver wants a playoff game too, and they're starting Cutler now. Denver with Cutler has a better shot at a playoff spot than we do with Pennington. Pennington will have to go on a hot streak to get us into the playoffs and then get us anywhere in the playoffs. I don't think he's capable of it, no matter what, this really needs to be his last year.
i see the best of the Jets and think that can make it through the playoffs... but then i see the worst the next week... u know it sure doesnt instill me with confidence
All bets are off if it's a 3 way tie. However, we're getting WAY OVER OUR HEADS HERE. If we finish 9-7, regardless of whether or not we make the dance, it's been a good season.
If we win this week: Jets record: 6-5 Jets conference record: 5-4 KC record: 7-4 KC conference record: 3-4 Denver record: 7-4 Denver conference record: 7-3 (2 conf. games to go) Cincy record (with win): 6-5 Cincy conference record: 4-3 Jax record (with win): 7-4 Jax conference record: 4-3 Mia record: 5-6 Mia conference record: 2-5
Interesting to note that we cannot have a three way tie with Denver and KC - the divisional step is applied first, eliminating one of them from contention for the first WC spot. Same would be true if we ended tied with Miami (or Buffalo) or if Pittsburgh tied Cincy.
Not for nuthin', but Miami is coming off a four game winning streak, and are executing well. I had hoped to chalk that up as another win, but it appears that we'll have to fight for that win.
right, except Jax still gets in over us, as currrently, their record is better than ours, and they beat us head-to-head. cheers
I live in Denver and I can tell you Denver is falling apart. I hope they go with Cutler, because if they do, I think they will go 9-7/8-8 because they have no running game. Everything is blamed on Plummer, but they ran for 30 some yards yesterday. Plummer will be traded/released at end of season.
Evidently you do not know what is going on in Denver. Everybody has been calling for Culter since training camp like he is the second coming, kinda like here. So bascially they are going to bench a guy with a 75% win record and blame him for all the offensive problems. Which makes sense since it can't be their bad offensive line or their non drafted starting running back or their geriatric wide receiver or their defense that gets shelled by good teams!
It does make sense, since Plummer is terrible. He was playing for his job yesterday and he was 1 illegal contact penalty away from a 120 yard 0td 2int performance. And even with that drive they still lost the game handily.
We need to become big San diego fans. They play denver and Kc in the next few weeks, and both games are at SD. That would give denver and kc another loss each. Its still to early to start forcasting. After the buffalo game dec 10, we can start to get a clear picture of whats going on.
