Miami Marlins knocked the Mets out on the last day of the season two years in a row ('08-09). Miami Dolphins would love to do the same to the Jets. Jets need to get this done
+10000000000000000 Can we beat the VaGiants? I can't say I'm confident, but nothing would make me happier than seeing this:
We got another lucky break last night, with Pittsburgh losing to the 49ers, that puts the Ravens and Steelers both at 10-4, meaning that the division with be up for grabs in week 17 when the Ravens play the Bengals.
This actually isn't true, since if Baltimore beats Cleveland (likely) and St. Louis beats Pittsburgh (unlikely) next week Baltimore clinches the division. Fortunately, however, if Houston beats Indy next week the game will still matter for the difference between being the #2 (and having a bye) and #3 seed, so it will still be very important to Baltimore. Thus, the chances are very good that the game will matter for Baltimore.
Very true. In reality a Cincy loss this week is irrelevant so don't even look at them this week. The Jets are only playing this week to keep their desitny in their own hands for Week 17. They can clinch a spot over OAK and TEN this week but not Cincy. Jets can't be eliminated under any circumstances this week if they lose but they lose control of their destiny if they do. If the Jets lose and Cincy wins this week the Jets still go to the playoffs if they beat the Dolphins and Cincy loses to the Ravens. In that scenario the the Titans or Raiders would each have to lose one game apiece. Tenn is home to JAX and @ HOU. Oakland is @KC and home to SD. Odds are good they each drop one since Houston is guaranteed to have something to play for in Week 17 if they take care of hapless Indy on Thursday. Houston wins a tiebreaker vs. PIT but loses one to Baltimore and they are fighting both of those teams for the #2 seed and a first round bye. From a Jets perspective Titan and Raider losses this week are more important in the big picture if Jets hope to get in at 9-7.
It's a coin toss whether the Giants show up to any given game. I think the Jets O-line better get their shit together or the Giants pass rush is going to feed Sanchez a steady diet of field turf. Jets need to run the ball and get rid of the ball FAST on limited pass plays. Above all the defense needs to get the job done. It's not going to be an easy game but if they take it seriously the Jets will come out on top
OL's are comparable (even though I still don't get how being the Jets have to Pro Bowlers on it), Giants have better DL, Jets have better LB's and Secondary, Giants have better QB, WR's,,, RB's are comparable, Jets have better TE. Kicking games are comparable, Jets have better Special Teams.
Has a WC ever been determined by the coin toss ? Or a division winner ? If not, how far down the tiebreaker list have they gotten ? Edit: Never mind....this link seems to give the 'furthest down the list' tiebreakers. http://www.pfraforum.org/index.php?showtopic=1212
Well, Houston didn't beat Indy, so a Baltimore win and Pittsburgh loss will clinch a bye for Baltimore; however, they would still have a shot at the #1 seed, so the game should still mean something.
I'm surprised people are still worried about Cincy. This is a team that's won 2 of its last 6 games ... against The Rams and Browns. Arizona has won 6 of 7, beating Dallas, SF and Philly. The Ravens will probably be playing to clinch the division or get a bye. If Cincy finishes better than 8-8, I'll be shocked.
Yeah, I think Cinci definitely drops 1 of their last 2, but more likely they'll lose both. Tennessee and Oakland are the teams to worry about. I think Oakland will lose to SD, hopefully Tennessee drops one to JAX or HOU. Hopefully it doesn't come down to having another team lose though. Does Denver have a shot at the 3 seed if they win out and Houston loses next week?
What does it hurt? It's not like someone on a message board looking past an overrated team is going to give Mark Sanchez a case of overconfidence.
