I'm not sure what value any talks involving Santonio have without considering any possible discipline. As per the old CBA, conduct and substance violations are supposed to be considered seperately from each other and I doubt that would change but keep in mind that it is a gambling violation that Holmes is being charged with and pro leagues tend to be more punative in these cases than almost any other for firsf time offenders. It's entirely possible that Holmes could claim ignorance or have his lawyer argue his way out of it but I souldn't be expecting much in the way of leniency. This also wouldn't be his first personal conduct violation. He was arrested a few times during his rookie year and had that jncident in a Pittsburgh night club just prior to his trade.
OK thanks that was the part I wasn't sure about. So he's got strikes against him in both spots. Any way you slice it it looks pretty bad. The only saving grace is the 24 others in this. Hopefully they all had the same "advisor" so they can at least claim they had no fucking idea.
Holmes dropping the ball against the Colts on 3rd and 5 couldve been the end of our season. Obviously a lot of things happened but if Manning would have driven down the field and killed all the clock we would be bashing Holmes for costing us the season.
I think that is just for a substance abuse violation. I do not think they treat general conduct violations the same way.
Take this info as you want it, but Francesa said this type of thing is extremely easy to get out of, and he thinks if ANYTHING the players would pay a little fine.
Yeah this may turn out to be nothing. Nobody's said a word about it on ESPN, and no mention of it on Total Access either, where they're so goddamn bored and desperate to fill an hour of football talk that they're hyping the Sanchini again.
yeah, and Francesa looks FOR ANYTHING to bash the Jets about, and he said nothing negative at all. Not even sarcastic. Obviously Francesa doesn't lay down the law, but it seems like this is probably nothing.
I agree. The guy dropped several catchable passes last season and killed many plays. He helped lose the Green bay game with a very costly drop. Why do we need him? PLUS one more drug violation he will be suspended for a year! Pittsburgh did not need him and still went to the SB. We had him and did not go to the SB. The guy looked scraed and unwilling on a punt return last year! He sucks in the run game and his blocking is laughable. I do not see why we need him at all. Edwards can do what HOLMES does when given the opportunity PLUS he helps make our run game excellent with tough blocking. Edwards wants to be a JET and plays like it. Holmes is another prima donna in it for the money! I prefer team players and Holmes is not one of those.
I thought I read the same article - out for a year - whatever what a stupid thing to get involved in. Surely, he could find better things to invest his money in?
I haven't read the details but i'm willing to bet they did not know they were investing into the casino.Too many names in there for their lawyers not to say "wait a minute". Either it was acted upon by some type of agent/principal agree with a 3rd party or the actual owners of the casino didn't disclose what the funds were being used for.
The way I see it, the only way it drives his value down is if there is a high likelihood of suspension. If he has a real chance of being suspended he could be sent packing for a year, so he doesnt do anybody any good if thats the case.
You don't think there are 25 players in the NFL that are unintelligent enough to sign a business deal without consenting legal counsel? Have you seen the earrings at press conferences? Many of these young me men behave as if it were Monopoly dollars.
