By no stretch of the imagination is Pennington a scapegoat. He had three absolutely horrible interceptions that completely killed the team, after two last week. In case you didn't notice, he led the team to a grand total of 10 points (hey, if you want to give him credit for Nugent's missed FG that's still only 13), after 14 last week. If the defense hadn't forced a fumble and Washington hadn't returned a kick for a TD, the Jets aren't remotely close to being in this game.

The funniest thing is that you're actually making the best case for pulling Pennington - that the rest of the team isn't any good. That being the case, it would be insane to keep the supposed QB of the future on the bench, instead of seeing what he can do. The Jets are going nowhere anyway.

If you read my post, you will see I said Chad made stupid mistakes that was part of losing the last two games. But I am sorry, I don't think a change at QB is the answer.

I find it funny when people complain about special teams and defensive touchdowns and lack of offensive points. Look at the defense, they could not stop the Giants today. All the Giants had to do was line up Brandon in the backfield and he had 5 yards easy. The Giants went on a long drive to start the 3rd and scored TOP 3:43, then the kick return, the Giants went on another time consuming small drive ending in a punt, TOP 3:58, the Jets next 3 plays,
    1 and 10
    Jones left -2
    2 and 12
Designed screen to coles 1 yd
    3 and 11
Brad Smith at QB, Jones middle 6 yard
    4 and 5
    Punt
Giants go on another lond TD drive, TOP 5:06

How do you expect the offense to get in a rythm with the crappy D and crappy play calls. You complain about Chad dumping it off on 3rd down, but I didn't hear anyone complain about B. Smith at QB and a run on 3rd and 11. Pennington doesn't make a terrible read and throw on the second INT, it is not on him but on the crappy D and play calling.

BTW, that was the entire 3rd quarter. Please let me know how Chad was at fault for not scoring in the third!!

This is a new tactic in Chad defense. Usually the standard line is that the defense stinks so why are people blaming Chad. Of course that argument is totally irrelevant because no matter how bad the defense is that doesn't negate the need for better QB play.

Now that Chad has in fact been the reason the Jets have lost the last two weeks people are really scrambling for any excuse they can find.

Chad's inability to throw deep kills our running game. Defenses have no need to have less than 9 guys in the box.

Chad's inability to score points against bad defenses kills our running game and tires out our defense.

We should have been up 20 points at the half, then maybe our D would not have been on the field for the entire 3rd quarter, getting a solid dose of run down their throats.

The running numbers are on Chad, period. The one game he managed to mount a good lead allowed us to run run run.

2 weeks ago, I voted Chad easily. Last week, i couldn't decide. Now, I voted Clemens, but i'm not 100% sold on it yet.

kellen if only for the reason of we are going nowhere right now and some things need to be shaken up for me to continue to have confidence in the people in charge.

there are some changes i need to see made on the defensive side as well.

Come on man he is a winner. I voted for Chad, all he does is win and march us down the field with those tight spirals.

His throws are easy to catch. Case in point, look at the Ross touchdown. Perfectly thrown ball for an easy TD. You can not get much better than that.

Gentlemen, after watching the last few games and reading all the posts in this thread, I still have to put my vote for Kellen. Simply put, our team is not good enough to recover from turnovers and Chad has made too many stupid turnovers over the past few games. These are rookie mistakes he is making, and he's 10 year vet. This is a QB that made his rep by not turning the ball over in the red zone and making smart choices with the ball. He's not doing that anymore. Now lets be honest. Is this a temporary glitch or the trend of things to come? Maybe some time on the bench will help him get his head back together because throwing the ball up for grabs into double coverage is not what good QB's do. We are not going to make the playoffs so it's time to find out if we have the right guy on the bench. If he (Kellen) performs well, at least we know that we don't have to draft (and the way we're playing, it looks like a HIGH draft choice) another QB next season. Thanks for the effort and memories Chad but it's time to move on.

I have to agree with every sports analyst that I watched yesterday. The Jets have a lot of things wrong with them, Chad being one of them. No offensive line, a porous run defense, little or no pass rush, lousy kicking game( numer 1 draft pick my ass). If we had any one of those and we werent winning I would jump on the Clemens bandwagon tomorrow. 40 yards rushing, 1 sack, missed chip shot field goal, over 180 yards rushing for the Giants. Sorry cant blame all this on Chad.

You're right about all that but here's the difference with the QB position... we have a possible fix to that problem... it's time to find out if it's a definite solution or if we need to look elsewhere... no use in waiting another season to find out the answer

I've always defended and supported Chad as he is one of my favorite Jets of all time. But it's just not working out right now. I have seen him play with sufficient arm strength in the past,it's just much, much worse right now. He is making decisions way too quick and has no faith in the Oline. The O line isn't going to change personnel right now so we have to give someone else a shot. I'm not sold on Clemens at all,but we'll never know unless we see him start a few. It's time.

This is the encapsulation of the whole point.

It doesn't matter with Chad anymore. He's proven he is not the future. Clemens may or may not be, but we won't know without some time.

As Grateful said, we're going to have a high draft pick. We need to know going in, is this pick used on the next QB of the future, or can we afford to actually spend it on improving one of the myriad other problems.

And oh yeah, N00ge suX. A lot.

Actually I think CP should bench himself if he says he loves the NYJs as much as he professes

do you see the games in germany? i mean can you actually see how bad he played?

and the fact kellen sucked until the 4th qtr means nothing. cuz in that 4th qtr he showed us all exactly why its time to start him. i felt more confident trying to come from behind with Clemens under center than i have since chad played in 02. 5 years and two shoulder surgeries later this guy playing now is a shell of what Penny was. its sad but its true. time to see why we passed on Cutler.

I think the change here is that losing to the Bills and Giants means the season is lost either way, so we might as well see if Clemens is the real deal.

I was at the game..always and still like Chad, but after the decisions he's making with the ball, I rather have Kellen in there. I don't see the benefit if Chad if he's not using his brain.

It doesn't even matter now....this D will give up 20+ points to everyone we play, and probably worse.....so we might as well start giving David Harris a lot of time and put Kellen in to see what we have got in the backup QB....that will at least allow the team to start preparing for the draft.

If not starting Kellen, then at least let Chad play till the team is down 14 and give Kellen the whole second half or something...
