The draft is the life-line of the team. Don't you remember his opening statement in becoming the GM of this team? He wants the team to be young and fast. I think he's going to find a way to stash any of the rookies that aren't ready yet. I have a feeling he won't cut one of them and if so, they will go to the PS. Belichick has done this in the past. http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story...ngland-patriots-placed-ir-being-late-practice There's always a way to get a player on the IR. In regards to Simms v Boyd - I think Simms needs a start else-where he will never start here. Boyd has been getting more opportunities despite sucking.
I don't believe simms is P.S. elgible due to being active all last season. as far as I.R. goes,as long as the player is willing to play ball you can stash him.keep in mind you are only allowed so many I.R. spots. Not surw what that number is though
You are probably right about Simms. I worry about only keeping 2 QBs in our situation. Vick is injury prone and Smith is still very much a question mark.
In retrospect, - with so many draft picks & with fewer spots on the roster, a tradeup would have made some sense. In retrospect, of course. However, it has also seemed to inspire the competition that Idzik spoke about being needed to improve the quality of play. Either case, - I won't be second-guessing John Idzik at all after what he has accomplished so far. I like our path.
This roster is still missing a lot of peices and still has a ton of question marks.I hope we get a few surprises from our rookies
Is this true to Idzik? Or just a generalization of GM behavior? I just back and briefly looked at the Seahawks draft history while Idzik was there, I really didn't see any instances where a spot was given to a player just cause it was "his guy". Would be interesting to take a deeper look but curious if you've already done that research.
If Geno plays terribly or gets hurt, and then the same thing happens to Vick, then our season is shot anyways and we can just sign any QB off the street to come in and finish our season out. I would much rather see the roster spot used on an extra corner or receiver because there are a few on our team, that once they are cut will be picked up quickly somewhere else.
Jarrett played well last year in the role he was given. And to be fair, giving up a TD to Jimmy Graham being the last straw isn't really fair lol. Graham does that to lots of guys.
Every GM is different. The Jets did a lot of research for the draft this year. Can't see him cutting them right away after a few months. Idzik didn't do everything in Seattle, you have to remember Pete Carroll and John Schneider had a lot of input as well.
