For teams that have poor offensive lines, this skill is very useful in being able to get out from under the pile.
Based on the 15 question sample version, I would say that a player would probably have to be statistically significantly dumber than a post to score a 6 on the test. Maybe I can get a grant from the NFL to do a thorough study on this, though.
You seem to be the only one who really feels this way. The worst case scenario for the Jets is Young still available at 4. I'll take Cutler any day of the week over Young.
I can absouletely guarantee you that Vince Young has dropped out of the top 5 draft picks if his Wonderlic score is true. Cutler will go to the Titans. WE'll take the Brick.
At this point, if that is the scenario and the Wonderlic score is true, that is the correct pick to make. The thing is, I'm not sure the Titans will pass on Brick. Keep in mind, Cutler wasnt the only high end prospect that Fisher coached at the senior bowl. Brick was on that roster as well. As of right now, the Titans have more stability at the QB position than they do on the OL. That might be the deciding factor. In which case, Cutler would be available at 4.
Spinning this into a sabbatical and a suitcase full of cash? Excellent! Incidentally, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the NFLPA commission a study of the relationship between the Wonderlic and NFL success. Go through the research documents posted on NFLPA.org and tell me that a study like that would be out of place. Six months in St. Thomas with a laptop here we come!!!
You obviously understand the world of academia very well! Not so sure about St. Thomas, however - it's okay, but not my favorite island. I just came back from Aruba and enjoyed it a lot, but if I'm going to go to an island, I think I'll choose Maui. I took a look at a few of those reports - they obviously have a whole lot of data, but no clue as to how to analyze or summarize it.
I forgot that Tennessee isn't as desperate for a QB as us, being Mcnair is still there. You have to remember that Mcnair has also worked out with Young and wanted to take him under his wing from what I read somewhere!
If Young or Bush aren't there at 4 we should should trade down and get as many picks as possible especially going to 3-4 we need a lot of picks. QB,OL,RB,LB,DT,WR,CB and we need them to produce. Too many needs too few picks. There are very good QBs to be taken in this draft. Oh yeah nice name.
I'm fully aware that Gms talk out their ass this time of year but listening to Floyd Reese's interview on NFL Radio, I think Qb is the direction they were looking to go. It sounded like he would have been content with whoever was available between Leinart & Young. It will be interesting to see what the Titans do now, if this is true with Young. They could go a # of directions, but I wouldn't be surprised if they will look to move up for Leinart. The direction the Titans go is gonna impact the direction we end up going..
No, I agree with him. I would not take Cutler that early. I do agree I'd prefer him to Young, but I don't want Young either. I don't want to pick a QB at #4. I'd rather work on the offensive line or get the running back of the future. I'd give Pennington another shot, and bring in someone like Ramsey to compete with him. If it doesn't work out, then get aQB of the future when we have a little bit more talent on offense to give him a chance. However, if we have to take a QB, the only one I'd take is Leinart. He is the most NFL ready. He might not the physical skills of Carson Palmer, but they are still very good. And he's got all the intangibles you look for in a QB. Young stole the show at the Rose Bowl, but people forget that Leinart played great in the 2nd half too. And I think Leinart's game translates to the NFL much better than Young's. He won't be there at #4, but I feel if you are going to hand the keys over to a QB, which is what you are doing when you draft a QB that early, you do what it takes to get the one who you think will be the best player. IMO that's going to be Leinart.
