Jesus christ can someone tell me how Demario Davis has done this preseason? I am trying to not create an entire thread just for this one question.
He's done well. He stood out more in the first game, and thereafter he hasn't shown up on any poor plays. So all in all I give him a good grade.
LOL at all of the bold. You're getting way to excited buddy. Landry is a pro bowler when healthy. Bell is basically going to be the secondary's QB. If Coples gets any playing time over anyone, it will be DeVito. I don't know how much of the preseason you have watched, but the Mo Wilk is looking like a beast alongside Ellis and Coples.
DeVito is still an extremely important part of this defense... particularly if Coples conditioning isn't sufficient to full games of playtime!
Everything about the defense is looking good this year. Two killer safeties, Rex calling the plays, finally a pass rush and if you agree we were hiding the offense in preseason then be sure we were also hiding the defense. It could be really scary how good they might be.
I really have no doubt that we will be a top 3 defense. They've looked amazing so far, and thats without Rex game planning and showing any exotic looks or blitzes. I love the youth (maybe aside from LB). Our DL looks like its going to be dominant. Bills fans can talk all they want about their DL, but I think ours is top 5 also. Im really excited about the big 3 on the DL. All have shown great flashes this preseason and I cant wait to see how they are come mid-season. Landry looks like a great acquisition so far. If he can stay healthy, he's a probowl player.
Honestly I haven't seen him much so I couldn't tell you. He hasn't stood out but I guess on the bright side he also hasn't been burned or made any glaring mistakes.
DeVito will be a huge part of how our D does against the run. He is a great run stuffer, but I don't want to see him out there on obvious passing situations. That's Coples time.
Hey I prefaced it with "if in the second half of the season someone steps up." Point being that we could have a dark horse, or the defense at the start may not be the same at the end.
both good Ds, but their stats last year were skewed because of the 6 games they each got against the shitty offenses in their divisions im not sold on houston as elite ... san fran is legit tho
You know how it's bad luck to talk about a no-no while it's happening? This is how I feel when I think about this defense. You can see the impending history in the making but you don't wanna jinx it in any way. The season hasn't even started but everything has to line up and this unit has to survive a whole season. But so far I like what I see. Dare I say.....no I better not.
No and no. I don't think this defense can beat Brady and I don't think he'll have his way. I think he'll win ugly the way Manning and Flacco did last year because the offense can't hold up it's end.
I'm not sold on this D being lights out and I especially don't see it happening to Brady. I'd like to think we improved in some areas (Coples / Safeties) but lets not cream our pants before the first game starts. I think we'll see a lot of Bend Don't Break play for 3 qtrs and give up TD's in the 4th or nailbiters. Coples, is our best rusher, and that is sad, as our DE (4-3)/ OLB's should be our best rather than interior lineman (I know he'll play 43 DE, but he's no JPP). I don't expect him to have more the 5 and that's asking a lot at his position. Maybin, so hit or miss and mostly miss. Unless he beats you off the bat or the QB holds the ball longer than 6sec, he's usually nullified. I'm not trying to be super pessimistic, but really wish we had that one all around OLB to compliment this above avg front line. Pace and Turtle are Pace and Turtle, nothing to see here. As for Davis, who knows, didn't see much in pre season. I don't expect him to start this year. Maybe he'll see some passing downs, but i dont' even know if he can cover TE's if needed. I won't start jacking until after wk 4 and show some consistency.
