Now I am not going into the deep end but if Drob is the starting NT for the season we are going to see plenty of these threads from now until the season is over, because a 3-4 defense without an NT you can count on is basically a garbage defense no matter who our LBs are

Trying to figure out a body part that is 6 letters and can have something shoved up it...

    any suggestions?

  4. Ive heard conflicting reports on D rob's performance last night. Some have said he was awful..while others said he was our most impressive D-linemen. Let's keep in mind that the true 1st team D gave up a grand total of 11 yards on about 6 plays... If that's the case..someboddy up front was doing something right...and it was most likely D rob..

W/ that said..we need someone behind him to give him a break now and again. I'm concerned about him holding up for 16 games facing double teams from big centers and guards..

The D line play seemed a bit shakey last night. As it improves so will the 3-4's ability to stop the run. If you ask me from listening to the game last night the whole D seemed to go south after Kimo was taken out of the game (I'm not questioning the decision -- he's a vet and its pre season -- just pointing out what seemed to me to be a turning point). The D line seemed much tougher and more organized with him in there. This is both good and bad. It means that we can expect good and maybe even very good D line play as long as he is in the game, which should be most of the time. It may also mean that any Kimo injury will have a much more devestating effect on the D than might, on the surface, be evident.

I still havent seen the game so I dont know how DRob looked at NT. From the radio though it sounded like Tui played well at NT, so that might be some cause for optimism.

Football team development is all about patience. Your aren't going to see great results on the first preseason game. It's just not going to happen. I'd expect it to get better between now and Sept 1st against the Eagles. That's what you guys should look for, progress between games.
