Funny, out of everyone on your list Kaepernick has the highest upside, and you just put no thanks. He'd be miles better than any of those other QBs. I was hoping Hoyer would sign here instead of Fitz last off season, but I don't think I want him anymore. I want a 3 way QB competition with young guys. Petty vs Hackenburg vs Draftee (Watkins?)
I'd sign Cousins in a heartbeat, $20 million salary demands or not. It's the going rate for starting NFL quarterbacks. Look at the dollar amounts Tyrod Taylor, Jay Cutler, Colin Kaepernick, Brock Osweiler and Ryan Tannehill got, and add in the fact that's he's LIGHTYEARS ahead of those players. In two years (after this year finishes) he's looking at 60+ total touchdowns to 25ish INT's/fumbles lost with 9,000ish yards passing on 68ish completion percentage. Of that list, Taylor and Glennon are the only two free agents I'd consider. They offer the most upside and are still young enough to grow. I don't want any part of Hoyer/Romo/Cutler. There's no opportunity for growth there, and they are what they are. We're not going to have a very good team next year. There's no reason to bring in an aging veteran. I'm going to be furious if we do. We're an incredibly QB starved franchise. Keeping that in mind, some of you shooting down Glennon and Taylor are awfully picky. I'll also add that I'm not a huge fan of Glennon. He doesn't move well in the pocket, has an elongated slow delivery and isn't extremely accurate. He also had little to work with in Tampa Bay so there's some hope for him. Then again the stars are aligning for the Giants to win the Super Bowl. If they do expect us to make a dumb splashy media driven move. We traded for Favre & Tebow following Giants SB victories. God help us.
The reason I did not even bother including cousins in my list of potential quarterbacks is because there is no way the Redskins let him walk. They know he's the best option this year and any replacement would be a major downgrade. The Redskins will sign him to a big contract and if they cannot agree they will simply tag him
It appears the Jets will be in a blowit up mode at the end of this year, I hope Marshall and most everyone over 30 years old will be missing from the roster with the possibility of Decker being one of the few worth salvaging. If the offensive line is going to be rebuilt then a QB like Taylor will be needed, if I were the GM I would do everything I could to get him a Cole Beasley type receiver to go along with Enunwa and Decker. Taylors performance cannot be rated with a head coach like Rex who preaches no mistakes and let the D make something happen. If the team is going to be rebuilt and playoffs in 2017 will be a monstrous stretch to say the least then get Taylor and cut him loose and let the team offense at least be interesting.
Nice summary and I agree with most. I agree with Glennon. I think he is the 2016 Brock Osweiller. Will get way too much money for an unknown. That being said I think if we could get him for the right price I think he is the best option for us. Young has some experience has had some flashes of looking good. With the draft and free agent crop I think he is the best bet for us. Hopefully we can get him for the right price.
I actually think Petty has looked solid considering his current offensive line is a complete joke. Would obviously prefer Romo or Cousins but that's not super likely. I like Tyrod too. He takes care of the football at the very least. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Tyrod has grown on me too. Might not be the best man to play in Chan's 5 yard offense but he could definatly help our run-game and his deep ball is beautiful. I'm still willing to stick with Petty/Hack/Hoyerish type vet for next year though as we need serious help almost everywhere else on the roster.
