If Gholston and McFadden are gone, nothing would surprise me. We know those are the two guys the Jets want. That's not really a question, sure maybe they lean one way over another, but there is genuine interest in both players. Maybe they still hope they can trade down, but if those two players are both off the board, the Jets could take Matt Ryan, a corner, Harvey, a RB, or they could trade down, and I wouldn't be surprised at any of it.
The Jets would piecemeal a season w/ Jones and McFadden in the backfield. They'll be creative. Remember, Thomas Jones is 30 years old this season. He's getting close to the RB decline age, the Jets won't pass on McFadden based on what they have currently.
I really don't think thiat that's as bad of a mock as some people are saying. Sure, if that's the way it falls I'm sure we'll try to trade down and grab Stewart, but if he's the next guy on our board I'd still take him there if we can't trade down. Since the top guys are all off the board, I can't see any single person who would be more worth the pick, as he's at least among the top players in the next teir of guys. His toe condition will not be an issue by minicamp. Oh, and Dre Moore would be a 3-4 DE, but would also have the versatility to sub in for Jenkins every once in a while. He was productive in school and is a complete physical freak, I'd absolutely love to have him. From a Jets point of view this looks very realistic and I actually like it, although under optimal conditions we could trade with the Panthers, they get Matt Ryan, and we nab Stewart a bit later on and grab another 2nd in the process. If we can't do it and he's still the highest rated guy on our board there's no reason not to take him.
Yeah, there is no way in hell the Jets draft a runningback not named Darren McFadden on the 6 pick. They'll take Matt Ryan before that and I don't think they're going to do that either. Felix Jones in the 2nd round, if he was there, would be much better value than either McFadden, Stewart or Mendenhall on the 6. Much better value.
