Wow. Glad to say I don't post there. That's shitty. Blame should go to Papelbon anyway. He's the one that refused to throw anything but fastballs that he had no command of.
Okay, so you"fucking get it." Congrats! You just don't think it's funny. I have brought shame upon my family. If I may ask, though... why point out (and then reassert) that my post makes no sense? Which is it? If you got it, it should have at least made sense to you, even if you didn't find it humorous. If it made no sense, then it seems obvious you didn't get it. Whatever. The bottom line is that I'm not trying to do stand up here. It was a one-off quip that even I only thought was marginally amusing. The only reason it's an issue right now is because you have (again) taken it upon yourself to play "Gotcha!" or something.
He also looked like he could care less of all the meatballs he was throwing. I think he is ready to leave boston
Look, I know you probably looked up the scientific 'formula' for comedy and saw that it said something like 'contradictions are used in crafting jokes'. The problem is, you need to know how to apply that concept. Otherwise it goes from 'funny' to 'nonsensical'. Also, I don't believe for a second that the intent was to make a joke centering on the fact that it would be funny to give a lower grade for effort because of too much effort. If it was, you know even less about comedy than I thought. It was a pretty clear cut case of trying to say I was trying too hard and wording it poorly, using effort when you should have used say, 'creativity'. Like Papelbon with his fastball you tried to use something you don't have good command of, and it fell flat.
So you don't believe for a second that I was trying to make a joke, but you say you get it? Gotcha. You have clearly lost any ground to stand on when it comes to accusing others of not making any sense. Really, though, you obviously don't get me and take me far more seriously than you should. Seems like you've got an ego that's been getting in the way of your responses to me for the past however long it's been that you've been all pissy and judgmental. You should probably give that up. Tell you what... You in the Boston area? I'll buy you a beer the next time the Yanks are in Boston. I think you'll see I'm not... well.. whatever it is you think I am. (And, really, for someone who's so keen to judge the sense of humor of others, you think you'd try for some new material. The whole super-serious scientist thing is kinda tired.)
Agreed. That's just about the stupidest reason I've ever heard for a breakup. I'm not even going to touch the 1st Sam Horn post. That's beyond classless.
Yeah, but it's more than that. He's had multiple concussions. At least one of which (and I think it might have been two) were from pitches that hit him in the head. Get used to those Gazoo helmets. MLB is trying to force the entire MiLB to convert to them, which will eventually all trickle into MLB. --------------- Anyway, what have I been saying all along?! That Marcus Thames, he's going to be a hero one of these days! Okay, so no. I've repeatedly said I wanted to punch him in the face. Instead, he got pie'd! What a freaking ending! I was actually driving home. I'm one of the only cars on the Cross Island, and I'm screaming my head off when Alex hits his. Then Cervelli gets on and I'm thinking, Thames? Hmmmm.... And he does it! It was a mixture of shock and "Damn, who didn't see that coming with Aaron Boone in the Stadium?" Great stuff. The Yankees pen is atrocious though. Apart from Joba and Mo there is no one to rely on. I'm just hoping last night was good for Vazquez's confidence because we need Mitre back in the pen.
Will they try hard to get this game in? Or will they just call it early and make the teams doubleheader in august?
Hopefully if they try, they get the whole thing in without delays. In the last game I went to in the old Stadium, they played the Sox during a rainy day. I was there for 6 hours. These games are long enough without acts of God.
I thought about that too. The Yankees should hire him to just make sure he is in the building when we play the sox
