At least Damon came to play...though, there is a lot of game left. The Yanks face a harder task hitting the hard throwing Sox bull pen after Wakefield's soft toss.
becaue neither team will win the division and it is a strong possibility neither will see the playoffs. If the Yanks don't sweep the season is over for us...period.
The Yankees, as a team, don't have the heart to be champions. You have a few guys that go out every day and work their asses off, and then you have a few schmucks who come out every day to shit the bed.
I still think the division is possible. Tampa has a BRUTAL schedule the rest of the way and the Sox play something silly like 18 of 25 at home. Plus the Sox have 6 games head to head with Tampa.
Walks don't win games. Then the Sox get a little bloop hit with 2 outs and because the runners are going on contact get 9 runs.
I think the players are more asleep with this game than I (we?) are. It doesn't seem to appear in their demeanor that this game is significant, with the exception of Pettitte, he was fired up.
Manny Delcarmen, you make no sense. You throw mid to high 90s with an excellent curve and decent change and yet you're terrible. Fuck off. Justin Masterson, I think I love you.
I'd be very surprised if Masterson ever starts regularly for the Sox again. He's much better out of the bullpen.
i agree, he's not really got that kind of stud 'stuff' but a very reliable reliever that can go multiple innings and consecutive games.
