Bingo, it was like the Bills game last year. We absolutely dominated them and still Favre had a chance to win the game in the 4th quarter. We showed absolutely no commitment to running the ball and still ended their 51 game streak of not allowing a team to run for 150 yards. Inexcusable to throw that many times in those weather conditions. I understand that the Viking secondary sucks but you need to adjust.

That being said something needs to be done about the 3rd and longs on defense, I don't know if teams are picking up on our schemes and adjusting or we are lacking something from last year but we absolutely are getting killed on 3rd and longs, the Ravens game we makes a few stops on 3rd and 8+ we are now 5-0 and last night we gave up 2 1st downs and a TD on 3rd and 11+. That needs to change because as good as Favre is Peyton Manning is better and that's who you need to worry about.

Sorry if someone made this point but despite the failures in the play calling this game - it's Rex's system and philosophy that enable us to win games like this when Jets teams of old would have completely laid a brick here. The Jets can lack execution and a solid gameplan - but this is a winning system with a winning coaching staff... we're now on the positive side of these things, and for that we have Rex to be thankful for.

I think he gets a little blitz crazy but that's who he is and we have to accept that, I don't get the playing not to lose on O in 1st half statement. The plays were there, our guys didn't execute whether it was a bad pass or a dropped pass. Outside of too many wildcat plays I didn't have a problem w/ playcalling most of the night w/ the obvious exception of the final 2 mins when they made that mistake just before the 2 min warning.

I was unsure how we played not to lose, we took a shot deep early with Holmes, and Sanchez missed two wide open guys on that drive right before the half. If anything I thought we were too aggressive in that 1st half when we should have been establishing the run.

I thought the playcalling on offense was good. Rex and Shotty can't MAKE the receivers catch the ball.

A lot of the defensive playcalling was questionable though.

Easlly should have been 20+ -0 at half if not for the weather. Kicking field goals and letting Favre stay close in the rearview was going to catch up at some point. Typically.we would have blown this game,but....

Guys dropped about 10 balls, the defense has to execute. Those 3rd and longs are killing me.

It was pretty bad at some points, it was raining crazy hard.

The game plan was obviously to throw, throw and throw some more. Minnesota has one of the best run stopping defenses in the league as that 51 game record proves. Unfortunately it rained like hell and that fucked up the game. So what, they won despite it.

Sanchez also missed some open guys, last night the only questionable coaching was on that last drive when we had some bad clock managment but last night was more about a lack of execution then coaching.

LMAO! The Schotty haters want to blame him for that play? Heh. As if he told Sanchez to throw it at 2:09 instead of 2:02.

As for the overall game, it's great the Jets won, but I feel neither great nor bad about the way they did it. They looked great at times, but not so much at others.

Blitzing is Rex's style. You take chances, and sometimes it does not go well. But I have no doubt he will mostly stick with it. It's part of the team's personality. It gets the players fired up. The Jets aren't afraid of anybody (with the possible exception of the Ravens, heh), and blitzing is part of that. I fully expect it will continue.

But for this game, it was bad weather, a slippery ball, both Qb's did not complete high percentages. And Minny made several mistakes, including the turnovers, that were mostly self induced. You can't count on that every game, to say the least. But Favre can still sling it, and he was coming on real sharp there. In that respect, I feel good the Jets came away with a win. A sometimes ugly win, with a good deal of luck, and some questionable calls by Ryan, and a real mistake by Sanchez. But stil a win.

True, but I'm sure bouncing balls off his receivers chests got old.

I swear to god if I saw one more ball bounce off another players chest I would've gotten real angry. I mean for real.

Any particular reason why we seem to always get burned on 3rd and longs this season? It's crazy.

Let's be honest. All 3 Viking TD's came on unbelievable and perfect passes. The weather conditions were bad and the Jet receivers dropped about a dozen passes. Take the win and move on to Denver.

Jets are strong and physical up front and are able to control the line of scrimmage but they don't have the raw speed to consistently penetrate and make big hits on the QB. We give opposing QBs too much time to throw in those situations.

Pittsburgh or the Jets will be in the Super Bowl. Take your coin flip.

Bottom line is we're going to be right there barring something happening like a bad injury. Lock up home field advantage as early as possible. That's the goal in mind here. Keep winning. Don't have anyone go down with a bad injury. Last night was a good night.

I think that was more a mistake by Mark, if he lets the playclock go down and throws the pass we hit the 2 min warning then can run it on 3rd down and run the clock down.

I'm not sure I agree with the entire sequence of events, on 1st down you need to do more then run straight up the middle, I thought getting outside the tackles was quite importanty and I don't like passing on 2nd and 11.
