haha not really because a beat writer thinks these guys jobs are in jeopardy?

mangini doesnt talk enough as it is, so ill take his "insider info" with a grain of salt.

I mean it could very well be true but even Cimini said in the article "we media people tend to read into these things too much"

lets wait till preaseason kicks off before we jump on anything other than "subjects of interest"

You know what I find hilarious about your post...if Cimini had written his article and came across more positively, YOU would be the one claiming he was talking out of his ass and that his articles aren't worth reading. But because his tone is considered negative, you're probably going to start quoting him in your arguments now. "In Cimini's chat, he said...". Don't even try to deny it, because everyone here knows that's what you would do.

The 2000 Ravens mostly played a 4-3 with Tony Siragusa on the nose and Sam Adams at the other tackle. Lewis was absolutely dominant as a stopper behind that massive line.

By 2003 the Ravens had moved to a 3-4 and Lewis's impact had significantly diminished. He went on record repeatedly from 2003 to 2005 on the need for another big body in front of him to keep the guards off of him.

This year the Ravens finally took a big DT (Haloti Ngata) in the first round and he'll team with Kelly Gregg as they shift back to a 4-3 to try to recapture the defensive dominance they once had. Lewis is 31 now so we'll see how that works out.

I think Vilma is probably justifiably worried about what is going to happen to him when he has a 320 pound guard on him on every running down. The Jet's new scheme could account for that somehow, but it will be a wait and see kind of thing. Vilma is a lot lighter than Lewis and will give up nearly 100 lbs to many of the guards. Think about that for a minute.

I'm wondering if Vilma is not going to wind up at strong safety for the Jets before all is said and done.

Just maybe you are in denial of the facts which would not be unusual for you. If I felt Cimini had erred I would have said it like I did with Brick/Man references. I really do not think you & others of your ilk have any idea how damaging Herm & Bway were to this team. Every day that goes by Woody lools even more stupid from the day before for hiring them.

Cimini is the most negative of all the NY Jet beat writers. I have yet to read a positive statement from him in all the years he has been covering the Jets. While there are time negative reporting is justified, it is not justified every week. I subscribe to the Sporting News and every issues there is a little article on every team. Every other team's article is somewhat positive and informative. Cimini writes the Jets article for TSN and every week it is something negative, from Mangini to the draft, to whatever. It always bleak in Jetville when Cimini talks. I take everything he says with a grain of salt.

While we all know the Jets are rebuilding, some statements he makes are just ridiculous. Barton on the ropes? Why? Because he played at a pro bowl level in 2004? Because he is fast? Because he had the audacity to get injured in 2005? Because after a year of excellent play in 2004 he made one stupid play in the playoffs? He has done nothing to decrease his value to this team, especially if a switch to a 3-4 is for real.

or barton could just be struggling out the gates in practice. but it isnt major concern he will have all of training camp to workout his kinks.

Probably because to the way you dream day after day of the NYJs he is not your cup of tea. IMHO he is the MOST realistic NYJ beat writer bar none. To you Serby is probably a "great" sportswriter cause he is the advocate of going to the SB each & every year. Cimini is laying out there what he sees cause you see the NYJs thru a set of blinders you think Cimini is "negative". As I have asked you many times brfore right now what are 10 good things you see that will impact the NYJs positively this year?

H'mm then that puts you in my SLW catagory so congrats on that. Instead of being nasty to me you should be offering me kudos for being correct on the Herm issue from the day Herm was hired. Maybe you to should make it routinue to read the NY papers each & every day. Who knows even a super duper lite weight like you may pick up a tidbit or 2 that will make you a smarter NYJ fan

He weighs 230 lbs. Inside linebackers in a 3-4 need to be in the 245-250 range.

uhhh....zach thomas didn't miss a beat last year in the 3-4,in fact he made the probowl, and he weighs 228 lbs according to nfl.com, so i guess ilb's do not NEED to be in the 245-250 range

Thomas is very unusual, at 5'11" (generous estimate he's more like 5'10 and a half.) The leverage he gets from his low center of gravity lets him get away with things that a 6'1" 230 lb linebacker could not.

Look at the inside linebackers as a group and you'll see that most of them are in the 245 and up range. Ray Lewis is actually a bit light for the position at 243.

Vilma is i believe 6 foot flat(or close from the combine)....you act like one inch (maybe 2) is a huge difference.....look, i know the average 3-4 ilb should be 245, but players with the instncts of Vilma will flourish in any system...he reads and reacts to plays a lot quicker, and is also a lot more naturally quicker then almost all of the other 245-250 lb ilbs....therefore he will have a step or two on guards coming at him
