If he was actually on the Ravens' practice squad as was stated earlier in the thread, he'd be a player who achieved his status via being waived. No restrictions on that :)

He was on the Ravens PS in 2006 or something... he is a CFL FA like others we have already signed.

I'd be happy to bring him in for TC I guess...

Yes, I know he was on the squad in 2006. I was referring to questions as to whether Final Eight UFA rules would apply to him by any stretch.

Cameron Wake did pretty well in limited action with the Dolphins.

He's also been out of the NFL for 4 years. At that point, I'm pretty sure he's fair game.

    Right, not good football.

So players from top flight D1 programs, many of whom have made NFL teams in varying capacities, are all of a sudden shit when they cross the border? Are you retarded?

Anthony Calvillo hasn't received offers to go back to the NFL consistently throughout his career? Casey Printers didn't spend 3 years as a QB on the Chiefs? Warren Moon and Randell Cunningham were shit players? Jeff Garcia?

Oh yeah, we should all remember how Ricky Williams came up here and totally dominated, right? Quincy Carter and Eric Crouch couldn't even stay on CFL teams. So I guess Marc Trestman wasn't being offered HC interviews in the NFL as soon as the Grey Cup was over.

You know a lot about the game bud, I bet you played it at a high level too.

I played against this guy (well sort of, we both played D) and he was the best defensive player on an awful team. I wasn't in any offensive meetings, but I have to say that I never heard any talk of him baing someone to watch out for. A lot can change in a few years, especially with elite offseason training and pro coaching.

Dude, after a few years on the Chiefs' practice squad, Casey Printers was released...the Chiefs are one of the least talented teams in the NFL.

He never threw a pass in the NFL, and he never wll.

With all due respect, please don't pretend that Mark Trestman didn't have a long, mostly successful career as an assistant at both the pro and college level, or forget that guys like Ricky Ray, Avon Cobourne, John Avery, and Jarious Jackson, who have no place in the NFL, succeed in the CFL. If I'm Ricky Williams, my CFL goals are "play it safe, get my legs under me, don't get hurt."

For a guy like Cameron Wake, a freakish athlete who was a little undersized when the NFL came calling, the CFL is a good place to motivate yourself and grow as a football player, but let's not pretend it's anywhere near the level of competition. The guys who end up there are there because they need to get it together, but most of the guys that are there wouldn't get a sniff starting in the NFL.

There's no telling with Foley, but I hope he's a Wake. He seems to be a top flight athlete, and Ryan spoke pretty glowingly of him when he was in Baltimore, but we'll see.

I am more than aware that people make the NFL after playing for the CFL, but please spare me your three paragraphs of word vomit. The majority of the players in the CFL come up here because they were unable to make even the practice squad on an NFL team, which they would obviously choose over the CFL if they had the choice, conisdering you make more on a pracy squad in the NFL then you do as a starter in the CFL. Thank you for citing a handful of players over 3 decades that succesfully contributed to teams in the NFL. This is a ganggreen board so maybe you can join a Toronoto Argo board and tell them how much you love 3 down football, 12 men, a field the size of an airport landing strip.

Why don't you point out all of the bums who amount to nothing every year that wind up back in the Crappy Football League? And what's the big deal about Cam Wake? He had 5.5 sacks this year, 2.5 of which came in one game against the putrid Bills OL.
