Your math is pretty off... That contract is a AAV of $5.5M/yr, not the $4M/yr you claimed in an effort to make Tannenbaum look bad

Not to mention Winston is a zone blocker, were a man scheme.

Not saying he wouldnt be an upgrade, but he woudlnt of been an ideal fit

Weren't all of your guys zone blockers last year? Are they all of the sudden not ideal fits?

My thought exactly. On top of that we'll be doing a mix of both zone and man blocking.

Moore and Slauson arent ideal fits, which is why neither of them will likely be starters in 2013 (Moore likely moreso due to age, Slauson moreso due to the fact that hes not a great fit)

But being that theyre already under contract, kinda gotta roll with it.

And WFH isnt an ideal fit for any scheme.

Theres a difference between bringing in a guy who isnt an ideal fit as an UFA, and having a guy is already under contract.

Not to mention Dbrick and Mangold are both elite players at their positions.

I don't think you'll find many people outside of the Jets calling D'Brick elite. He's a very good LT, not elite like Mangold.

Cant really argue that at all, especially after last year.

Why aren't Moore and Slauson ideal fits for a man scheme as opposed to zone?

When you put it like that it sounds like the Jets hired an O coordinator who utilizes a blocking scheme that isn't suited to their current personnel, which is probably a much larger gaffe if they could have signed Eric Winston to fit right in there with the old scheme and hired some guys who did use zone. A much larger problem than simply not upgrading at RT.

I really want to see P. Turner as a bigger part of the O this year. I like the chemistry he has with Sanchez. He may not be the fastest, but I think he could really help in a Burress type way (Redzone). He seems pretty sure handed and looks to be a good team player. I thought it was great when he came into the last game of the year when Tone was bitching and he had a couple grabs and a TD.

Agree with you. There are probably 20 teams with better OL than the Jets, like the Packers, Pats, Bengals, Texans, Titans, Browns you name it. If someone gets cut from those teams, What are the chances that the Jets can snag some OL help knowing that at least 12 other teams will be looking too? Probably very low.
As for the phantom blocking TE well get Tebow in there. As you well pointed out WR is a concern but we might find a diamond in the rough out there.
I still believe our other Achilles heel is the LB group.

I'm not as worried in the defensive side. The Jets have a lot of warm bodies over there and Rex has his eye on that side all the time. They've spent 3 first round picks in a row on that side of the ball in Wilson, Wilkerson and now Coples.

Yeah, the LB's are not great but there are a lot of them and Rex is good at figuring things out when he has an issue to cover.

On the other side of the ball you have nobody firmly in command of the talent and the situation and the talent has been allowed to dissipate over the last several years.

Nobody has their eye on the ball very well on offense. That's the problem.

In 2007 Austin Howard caught 5 passes for 38 yards and 1TD as a TE before he moved to Tackle. Maybe he can replace the 5 catches for 58 yards that Mulligan contributed last year, as well as block better and not commit penalties.

I agree with all these needing to be filled.
