Hahah! Tice will show up with a handout titled "My Plan to Save Miami". Then they will steal it and kick him out the door! bwhahaah
Great for us, Saban even though he had a down year is a coach who could match wits with us and BB. Now if we could get BB to take the Giants job we would be set.
The League gave Cowher he's SB victory last year. Good solid coach, not a great coaching mind like BB and maybe Mangini.
This is as good as it gets! The Dolphins are in such bad shape right now. Their defense is old, they havnt had a good draft in 5 years and now they dont have a coach! HAHA! This is great. Its a good time to be a Jets fan.
I think great coaching minds are overrated. Other than BB, I don't see too much evidence of geniuses outperforming their talent all that much, and you could also argue that a lot of BB's success comes from having the best QB in football on his team. Cowher's teams had 3 losing seasons in 15 years, and even more importantly, he had 7 seasons with at least 11 wins. I consider that the sign of a coach who is a lot more than just good and solid. Certainly all of the speculation is that Cowher will take a year off, but I don't think that it's out of the question that he'd listen if Huizenga came calling.
Yea ur not lying about the "gave" part......too me that had to be the worst SB i've seen.....seriously
I think you hit the nail on the head regarding Cowher. I certainly wouldn't be trembling seeing him on the opposing sidelines in a playoff game, but if he brought a similar style of play to Miami that he used in Pittsburgh I sure wouldn't want to have to play that team twice a year.
The icing on the cake would be if this implosion of Miami's fortunes sealed Jason Taylor's retirement. I do feel bad for Huizenga, though. He went out on a limb last night to do everything possible to give Saban a comfortable landing, giving him his 10 o'clock deadline and supporting the request. As thanks, Saban skipped the 10 o'clock, jumped onto a university-chartered private jet, and called Huizenga from the plane to tell him he was bolting. Dick.
I was hoping he'd stay there, he didn't scare me. We're further along after one year of Mangini than they were after two years of Saban.
Cowher had the best team in football several times and didn't win. You could say the same about Marty who even last year may have had the best talent in the league and didn't make the playoffs. I don't include many in the Genius column, maybe in my lifetime Lombardi, Stram, Walsh are the few that come imediately to mind. Certainly BB, Parcells, Gibbs and Noll were top guys. I look at guys like Cowher, Marty and to a large extent Don Shula as highly over rated as pure coaches. All of them terrible under achieved with really excellent talent.
