You've talked up this angle for going on four months now. And it makes just as little sense now as it did back when you first proposed it.

This would be pretty much the same thing they did with Sanchez; extend a player when he hasn't produced well enough to warrant an extension. Even if you get him at 3 years/$30 million total you still set yourself up for having an overpaid backup.

And from his side - why would they undercut themselves if they believe in his performance turning around?

So if JD foregoes the draft and stays with Sam, he should just...just....what? Sign his 5th yr? Maybe ur right.

Are you involved in politics? It sure seems like it the way you throw other people's money around.

I think the Jets will trade Darnold before the draft to give him a chance to have success with another team. He wouldn't want to be bogged down in a QB competition that he will ultimate lose. That's not good for his career and the current Jets are careful to help players with their careers. The Jets want to be a team players WANT to play for.

No. He should let him play out his contract year and worry about it after the season. Don't pickup the fifth year option. I mean is he really that much better than Trubisky? Trubisky has performed better across the entire board than Darnold has and should've won a playoff game if his squad had a kicker.

That kid gets way too much flack from the NFL world because he went before Mahomes/Watson (not his fault?) while Darnold gets covered up by everything never being his own doing.

I say this because Trubisky just signed for $2.5 million. Why would you want to commit to Darnold for any sum of money when that's the market for underperforming high expectation former first round QB's?

If Darnold throws 30 touchdowns and 7 interceptions next year, then you'll be very happy to meet at the table to talk numbers.
