Hey don't blame "the jersey" for the buttfumble, that was on Hilliard….and that jersey won more playoff games than any jersey in Jets history…and dont blame the jersey for not getting a defensive stop against the Steelers in the 2010 AFC title game…..and no jersey could've won in 2012 with only Chaz Schilens, Chaz Schilens and Chaz Schilens for weapons……that jersey broke records for playoff wins..….broken record….broken record….

The Sanchez Buttfumble Jersey thread sucks, really sucks…..post your complaints abou…. ; )

I would value this little higher than owning a game used jersey. I find it hard to believe that anyone cares about the butt fumble enough to want to own a jersey.

No actually it sounds like something a player who was dumb with his money during his playing career would do. Not Sanchez specifically cause I'm sure he isn't out there buying a different car every week, jewelry he doesn't need and paying for his entire family to live..like some players do.

My comment wasn't a shot at Sanchez but you seem pretty convinced it was.

This money could very well be going to charity like a previous poster said. But your comment toward me makes zero sense cause there's no way Mark is hurting for money now. This move is just something that wreaks of something a retired player would do when he's down on funds as wants some publicity. So weird move no mAtter where the money is going.

They might have made more if it were for Lupus.

This is a Jets collector's item. For $820, I think that's a fair deal. It's the ButtFumble jersey. I wouldn't pay that much for it, but it would be a cool collector's item.
People who hate Sanchez are jackasses. Guy played hard for the Jets, it just didn't work out. Part of it was he wasn't that good, part of it was the talent around him crumbled. I remember leaving the 2011 AFC Championship Game with my father thinking that even though we lost, we were finally confident in Sanchez. It just didn't work out.

Even in 2011, I didn't think he was awful. He didn't step up like I hoped he would, but I hadn't given up on him like many fans had, and I didn't think it was totally fair to completely give up on him. 2012 was unforgivable, even with the awful talent around him. The first couple games, I thought the talent around him let him down a lot, but after that, it was a total trainwreck. So was the rest of the offense, but Sanchez made enough awful decisions and throws as a 4th-year quarterback that it was clear he was never going to be worth the high pick.

I could see him starting somewhere and having some success. But I don't ever see him being a Pro Bowl quarterback or even particularly close to it, even if all goes well. I don't think he has that in him. That's why I'm happy moving on. I don't think he could reach his maximum potential here at this point with the way the fans have turned on him anyway.

Maybe he did reach his "maximum potential" with the Jets.

For all the excuses that were construed around Mark Sanchez, in the end he wrote his own story line.

First of all, why in the world would you keep the jersey from that game? If that had happened to me, as the Qb of the team in that game, on that night, then I probably would have burned the jersey afterward.

Secondly, for $820, couldn't Sanchez just have written a check WITHOUT garnering more attention and perpetuating a moment that we're trying to forget?

This is like Bill Buckner auctioning off his mitt from Game 6.

Eh, the Buttfumble was embarrassing, Game 6 was soul-crushing for Red Sox fans.

Haha I know I know. It was an exaggerated example that I used to make a point. So, yeah, you're right that they're not the same.

Ok it wasn't him. When every player leaves the field they take off jerseys, sweat bands, gloves etc and throw them in a bin. Some of them get turned over to the NFL for auctioning. Sanchez didn't auction it off, the NFL did. 100% of the proceeds goes to lupus research.

There are a bunch of game worn items/equipment that is for sale, none of them by the individual player.

Sanchez didn't keep his jersey then auction it off. The Jets and the NFL did. Mets do the same thing, they sell almost every game used hat.

Ah, ok. Well, that actually is more understandable than if Sanchez himself had kept it and solid it.
