its a small bummer that he won't have the FULL offseason program, but regardless, the decision is a total no-brainer.
There has been a question about that knee since it was hurt in college, so its better to have a minor "repair" done now than wait for this to become a major injury, where it could set him back 6 months or longer. When the OTA's roll around, maybe they will see what they have in Ainge and if he can be a 2nd stringer.
Hopefully everything goes well and that this surgery will help prevent problems in the future. I would like for him to be at OTAs and all that, but this is more important
in my opinion, the OTA issue pans out like this. We wanted Favre for OTAs bc it was an offense that was watered down to suit him on the quick. and if he learned the system it was full speed ahead (prior to retiring the talk was if Favre agrees to OTA then most/some would agree to have him back). With Sanchez, he has learned the system... so OTAs aren't nearly as important as with Favre. the reason i mention Favre at all, is bc the OTA thing is a stark contrast this offseason compared to last.
I'm pissed that they're waiting 2 weeks "for him to get a breath of fresh air" before surgery. That's retarded. I know he probably wants to have some fun before he goes under the knife, he's still young, whatever. But it's still a bunch of crap. You're getting paid millions of dollars, you can afford to miss one freaking vacation. Especially since you already put it off to play a season. An injury that requires a lengthy gradual rehab schedule should never be put off, that goes without saying, come on. This is not a good start to the off season...

According to ESPN this is a quite complicated surgery. The procedure is a ligament will be taken from the Achilles heel & inserted in the knee. According to ESPN the MDs they spoke to said the rehab will be much longer then 2 months for this type surgery
I agree. If you're going to have the surgery, then do it right away. Every week that passes is a week without passing practice. As far as the vacation goes, you've got 3 months to rehab in the mornings and then sit on a beach somewhere in Cancun every afternoon drinking Coronas and screwing your brains out. Come on. This is the NFL, not high school.
That's strange. When did you hear that on ESPN Champ? On that video someone posted w/Sanchez talking about the surgery he basically said they were just "re-aligning" the ligaments and never discussed taking ligaments and inserting them.
They'll have the procedure mid febraury.... so half february / march / april /mid may... that's 3 months... TC is in July so being ready by mid-may/June is well before TC!
It was the day before yesterday. Having not heard that before I was shocked that the NYJs had not reported that was to be the surgery. ESPN in sought of there normal way indicated that the NYJs were withholding information on the surgery. In any case Sanchez confirms that at the least the info ESPN has about the ligament is correct
Not really. Sanchez just said they were moving the ligaments, ESPN basically says they're rebuilding them with tissue from elsewhere. Two entirely different things in my mind. Do you know which reporter said this? Maybe I can find them on twitter.
Yes Sanchez confirms from what U posted that is was a ligament so that jibes with ESPN report If I remembered correctly it was the guy that came over from the NFL Network to ESPN. He made that announcement on the 4PM ET NFL show after the host said now there is some other news besides the Super Bowl & Sanchezes surgery came up as the #1 topic. I'm sort of shocked that Cimini & his cohorts are not all over this report from ESPN
I guess I'm confused. Do you not see a difference in "re-aligning" a ligament and rebuilding one? To me the difference is significant, but I have yet to read anything concrete saying exactly what they're doing. Regardless, this surgery is supposed to reduce his chances of re-injuring it from 80% to 5% and he won't have to wear a knee brace anymore.
The sun rose in the east today and champ checks in with more negativity and a new sig. BTW, champ, I believe Sunday will be day 15,001, you may need to update it again. Happy motoring!
If that's the case, it's a no brainer. My only bitch is that once you make a decision to do something like this, pull the trigger and do it. The only thing that would stop me from getting cut tomorrow morning would be if the surgeon I want to perform it is not available. This business of having to take a vacation first is bullshit. Go get cut and then vacation your ass off with a dozen underwear models in a Rosarito Beach villa down in the Mexican Baja.
