We're not the 80's 49ers. It's all well and good. I'm not opposed to it...but as Mike Tyson said everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face. Script it...but don't be afraid to adapt and deviate from that script if need be. Don't be married to the idea completely
Last year the script was: Series 1 : 1st down - run right get tackled for 1 yd loss 2nd down - run left for 2 yd gain 3rd down - throw 4 yd pass get tackled well short of 1st down marker 4th down - punt Series 2: repeat series 1 Not a fan of scripted plays for this team... All I want to consistently see is a 3rd down pass "BEYOND" the 1st down marker, not 3,4, 5 yards short of the sticks.
This was probably true while Sam was out, but I'm pretty sure that once Sam returned, the Jets either led the NFL, or were one of the top teams who scored on their opening drives.
I think that RJ was against bad teams, but I don’t recall after the beginning of the season. I’m Just tired of them throwing 5 yds short of the sticks every third down since mangini was here.
