If we manage to beat the Titans, and continue winning, we'll all be huge Steelers fans in week 16, and colts fans in week 17.
I think the Jets have as good a shot at the #1 seed as anyone, IF THEY BEAT THE TITANS. I don't see the Broncos as a threat at all. The defense is just too terrible. Also, as well as the Ravens have played, they have overachieved to this point, and I dont't think they'll keep it going. The Colts are looking better, but are they looking better than the Jets? I don't think so. The Steelers, I think, are the Jets main competition for the top seed (again, provided the Jets win this Sunday). Their questions on the OL could end up hurting them in Dec, tho, as their running game will suffer. On the flip side, I think it's the Jets running game that gets them to the top seed.
All these pipe dreams have answers that start with "If the Jets beat the Titans..." Given last week's awesome win, and the upcoming game with the Jets playing an undefeated team while defending their own standing atop the division, others may see the need to find something else to focus on, that being the distant playoffs, but I'd rather focus on what a great thing it is the Jets are where they are right now. The win against NE was huge because of the potential downside a loss would have brought, and also that beating them is always a great thing. But it has had the effect of putting the Jets into potentially the biggest game of the regular season. This weekend. Either a team that recently took the top berth in their division loses it to an undefeated team, or an undefeated team loses that title in one of the toughest games on their schedule. The playoffs can wait. imho....
FYI there already is an extensive & more detailed discussion about the possibilities of getting the #2 seed, including looking at schedules of & predictions for our closet competitions for it, in this thread No they don't. See the thread above. #2 is still probably very achievable even after a loss this weekend if we just beat the broncos, then win 3 or 4 of the remaining games.
Is this game scaring you, Tony? Maybe you should start a thread about that. It looks like it's still working.
This game scares the crap out of me. A thread definitely needs to be made about the terror Tony
That thread is the "How the Jets get the third seed thread by losing to the Titans" thread. This thread is the "How the Jets get the second seed by losing to the Titans" thread. There is a major difference.
I get the joke, but actually the main point of that thread is that 2nd seed is determined by what happens in the Broncos game. That scenario to get the 2nd actually assumes a loss to Titans, not a win (according to SI).
I won't have to do that, if the Jets are in a playoff game I'll have no trouble being able to watch it. The rub is I'm a season ticket holder who goes to just about every game, so I'd hate to not be at the biggest home game in ten years. My friend is going with his family too, he's a football fan. Well, a Raider fan but I think that still counts. He'll watch the game with me.
Awesome, thanks. That's the kind of thing I needed. Even if we're not playing, somebody will be. My kids are young, too, so if we're the Saturday night game I'll be in the room.
I agree. The 2 seed is probably what we can hope for. We just need to play determined, and focused. I really believe the thing that will carry us is the great veteran experience this team has.I mean we've got a lot of superbowl rings to look at in that locker room. It's that kind of leadership that can make the difference in a team come playoff time.
