It's not Willie's fault either. I'm sorry vin, but Omar put that team together, they are over the hill and over paid, none of them show any heart or hustle. If the Millions they are making is not enough to motivate them to run, then nothing will.
It's not Omar's fault? Last time I checked, he put this team together, not Willie. I feel bad for Willie. Omar and Tony Bernazard won't even let him pick his own coaching staff. Pretty sad when the manager can't even pick his own coaches. It was Omar that got Oliver Perez and his sub 4 ERA. It was Omar that signed Castillo to a $25 million, four-year deal. It was Omar that signed 40-year old players like Moises Alou and El Duque to $7.5 and $6.5 million deals. Last I checked, Omar's the one that signed Pedro to a four-year deal, in which he's only pitched 30 innings since the end of the 2006 season. If I'm not mistaken, the Mets are lacking starting pitching depth and have to throw guys like Claudio Vargas, Nelson Figueroa and Mike Pelfrey out there because Omar had to trade Brian Bannister for some hard-throwing reliever with no control...like we don't have enough of them. Not saying Bannister would ever amount to something, but for god sakes, I would have rather have seen him than these schmo's. If I recall correctly, it was Omar that HAD to trade for an aging first baseman with three-years left on an expensive contract, which has caused the Mets financial problems right now. It's not up to the manager to put together a team of washed up veteran players. Willie works with what he is given.
:rofl2: And simply firing Willie isn't putting all the blame on him if you go on a firestorm to get rid of most of these washed up players on our roster when the season is over, something that I want to see done.
i understand that....but the team on paper is the job of the GM....my point is not to fire Omar. Because the team on paper works. It's Willies inept ability to manage the bullpen or create a lineup....and 2 wins do not convince me folks. for example...the way Tatis has been hitting he should be batting 5 and Delgado 6....but of course not I haven't lost hope for this team my any means...But Willie has lost my support until he proves he deserves it.
