Good QB run at good opportunities when they can’t find their Receivers or see open field. Yes Zack has to learn to run when given a opportunity AND to avoid defensive hits. As few stated Russ is great at that.
IMO the fake slide is worse than the fake spike. The fake spike is just deception; if we're going to penalize that, might as well penalize a play-action fake. Whereas the fake slide is deliberately taking advantage of the fact that it's a 15 yard penalty to hit a sliding QB. It's like the league is doing you a favor by protecting you, and you abuse the privilege.
Well, maybe if another team's QB pulled that on the Jets I'd feel the way you do (although I'm not certain), but I applaud Wilson for having the awareness and quick thinking and reactions to pull it off. And touching back on the "fake spike", frankly I detest the whole "spiking the ball" to stop the clock, and have ever since it was first allowed. To me either it's intentional grounding or a fumble. In any case it shouldn't be allowed.
I was going to make this point too. ZW doesn't have the large frame that Allen has. Its a miracle that Lamar Jackson is still in one piece relatively speaking. Rolling ZW out left or right is something LeFleur should do more often instead of classic 5 step drops. Our "Improved" OL should make NFL life easier on Zach. If it doesn't, JD isn't doing his job.
Never said Zach was a polished passer. I asked should he run more and based on the info in the video, I think it is completely fair to suggest. No worries on the disagreement though.
Yeah, Zach will be running more in the future. The more comfortable he gets, the more he understands defenses, he will know when to run and when not to. It adds another threat that defenses have to prepare for. I don't think he needs to take any risky hits though. Sliding and running out of bounds will be good. He is really competitive though, and we know he takes some hits when he runs. He needs to do less of that in 2022. I'd rather punt or kick a FG than get a first down while Zach hurts himself, even if it is minor.
